Job description

Cleaning & Hygiene (Core)

• Clean laboratory benches, sinks, floors and preparation areas.
• Wash, dry and store glassware, apparatus and other lab tools after use.
• Safely dispose of laboratory and general waste according to labaratory staff.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in other Science Research Centre facilities such as lecture theatres, seminar rooms and meeting rooms.
• Refill cleaning supplies and ensure proper storage of cleaning chemicals.
• Maintain general tidiness and organisation of storage areas and shared spaces.

Support Tasks (Complementary)

• Assist in setting up and clearing equipment, apparatus, and materials for lessons, research projects, seminars, events, and workshops.
• Monitor and replenish laboratory consumables (e.g. gloves, PPE, stationery, common reagents).
• Assist in basic equipment maintenance checks and report faulty or damaged items.
• Follow all safety protocols, including correct personal protective equipment usage.
• Support logistics for departmental events, competitions, and special science activities.
• Provide basic guidance to students on handling laboratory tools safely during setup or cleaning.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the laboratory manager or staff.

Job Requirements

• Qualification: Secondary education level.
• Physically fit and able to perform manual cleaning and lifting tasks.
• Prior experience in a school or laboratory environment preferred.
• Knowledge of basic laboratory safety and safe handling of cleaning chemicals preferred.
• Comfortably working in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics laboratory settings.
