Job Summary

The Laboratory Technician is responsible for supporting the commissioning and operational phases of an FPSO by performing chemical and water quality analysis, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. This role involves working closely with the Chemist and technical teams to monitor and maintain process integrity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sample Analysis: Collect and analyze water, steam, and process samples using portable and online laboratory systems. Perform chemical composition testing using instruments such as HACH analyzers and wet chemistry methods.
  • Data Management: Record and interpret test results accurately. Report deviations and assist in corrective actions.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instruments. Ensure proper handling, labeling, and storage of chemicals.
  • Operational Support: Assist with chemical dosing adjustments in collaboration with the operations team. Participate in audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere to offshore safety protocols and environmental regulations. Manage hazardous materials and ensure proper waste disposal.
Requirements
  • Diploma in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • Hands‑on experience in water purity testing and laboratory equipment setup.
  • Familiarity with chemical safety standards and offshore HSE requirements.
  • Ability to work rotational shifts and in a fast‑paced, safety‑critical environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow SOPs.
  • Offshore experience or power plant laboratory background preferred.
Desirable
  • Experience with ICP/XRF analysis and precious metals recovery.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills for cross‑functional teamwork.
