Job description

We are looking for a hands-on and organised Lab Officer to help keep our academic research lab running smoothly. This role is a mix of lab support and admin work, with some involvement in basic research tasks where needed.

Main Responsibilities

Generation and maintenance of cell lines.

Perform molecular assays e.g. cell culture, drug screening, cell viability assays, ELISA, Western blotting, flow cytometry and microscopy.

Assist in optimization and troubleshooting of experimental protocols.

Drafting SOPs and risk assessments.

Maintain accurate and updated experimental records and documentation.

Assist in data collation for presentations, reports, and publications.

Prepare common lab reagents and buffers.

Assist with lab operational duties, including inventory management, equipment maintenance, etc.

Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.

General lab housekeeping duties.

Requirements
  • Degree in Life Sciences or related field
  • Experience with tissue culture and molecular techniques is a plus
  • Keen interest in paediatric cancer research and willingness to learn.
  • Safety-conscious and willing to learn
  • Able to work both independently and with a team
  • Good communication skills
