We are seeking a highly creative, passionate, and motivated individual to join us in our quest to advance science and defeat disease. We are looking for a Lab Manager to join our team and advance our platform. This person will be instrumental in Frontiers transition to a clinical stage Biotechnology Company. The candidate should have a passion for working collaboratively with biologists and bioengineers to enable building the necessary tools for meeting Frontiers goals. Additionally, the candidate will be strategically minded, service-oriented, and familiar with biotechnology lab and facility operations.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic direction, technical supervision, and support to lab users
- Drive improvements in service, efficiency, and cost reduction through standardization of common practices across the company
- Track performance across the 3 areas (service, efficiency, cost reduction)
- Create a venue to share ideas between lab operations/facilities teams and clients (lab personnel)
- Establish and own a business continuity plan including extended-hours coverage and response plan
- Establish processes and maintain infrastructure to enable laboratory operations across Research and Process Science, including: Capital plan/expenditures (from forecasting needs to installation), Lab equipment and instrumentation (contracts, maintenance, repair, calibration, upgrade and retirement), Lab safety (chemical storage, waste, MSDS, Contract EH&S oversight, OSHA oversight)
- Daily lab monitoring (e.g., refrigerators/freezers and LN2/CO2 levels)
- Manage lab safety inspections
- Enforce lab safety policies
- Responsible for performing quality control activities with minimal supervision of daily tasks in support of client procedures
- Ensure work is compliant with all applicable SOPs and Good Documentation Practices (GDP) as well as cGMP and cGTP requirements
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, correct the problems encountered
- Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratories established performance specifications
- Supervise facilities vendor management and performance against budget in collaboration with finance function
Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor's degree, or equivalent
- Proven track record managing laboratory facilities in Biotechnology or Pharmaceutical industries
- 5+ years experience in supply chain and lab management
- Experience implementing and managing Companywide OSHA, EH&S and other environmental compliance programs
- In‑depth experience with the set‑up/design, operation and maintenance of facilities and equipment in a Biotechnology industry setting
- Experience overseeing the receiving of lab equipment, chemicals, biologics, and temperature‑sensitive samples and reagents
- Equipment management experience with maintenance, calibration, and validation of analytical and process equipment
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Excellent prioritization and organization skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly developing PowerPoint slides and Excel budgets to articulate project spending and progress
- Experience with setting up an ERP system
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced interdisciplinary research team
