Schroders is seeking an experienced KYC Specialist to support end-to-end onboarding, periodic reviews and ongoing due diligence for Wealth Management clients across APAC. The role requires strong AML/KYC knowledge and risk judgement, with collaboration across Front Office, Compliance, Legal, Tax and Operations.

The candidate will review documentation for various client structures, conduct risk assessments, and maintain data integrity to support audits and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant KYC/AML experience in a regulated financial services environment.
  • Strong understanding of AML/KYC, CDD, EDD and regulatory requirements for Wealth Management/Private Banking.
  • Experience managing complex client structures and ownership, source of wealth and source of funds assessments.
  • Proven analytical and investigative capabilities to assess risk and document decisions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and ability to challenge Front Office submissions when needed.

Job Description

Who we're looking for

We are looking for an experienced Wealth Management KYC/AML Specialist to support and oversee end-to-end client onboarding, periodic reviews and ongoing due diligence for Wealth Management clients across APAC. The role requires strong technical knowledge of AML/KYC requirements, sound risk judgement, and the ability to partner effectively with Front Office, Compliance, Legal, Tax, Operations and other stakeholders. This is a specialist role suited to someone with at least 5 years of relevant KYC, AML, client due diligence or financial crime experience within a regulated financial services environment, ideally with direct exposure to Wealth Management or Private Banking clients.

What you'll do

  • Manageend-to-end KYC, AML and client due diligence activities across client onboarding, periodic reviews, trigger-event reviews, change-in-circumstances reviews and account closures.
  • Review and validate documentationfor individual, corporate, trust, VCC and other client structures, ensuring source of wealth, source of funds, tax documentation and client records are complete and compliant with internal policies.
  • Conduct client risk assessments, screening reviews, adverse media checks and other due diligence activities, escalating higher-risk or unusual cases where appropriate.
  • Follow up on outstanding documentation and remediation items, ensuring timely completion of onboarding and review activities.
  • Partner closely with Front Office, Compliance, Legal, Tax and Operations teams to resolve documentation gaps, onboarding issues and client lifecycle requests.
  • Maintain accurate client records and ensure high standards of documentation quality and data integrity.
  • Support internal audits, compliance reviews and regulatory requirements by providing complete and accurate documentation.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, controls and the client experience.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in KYC, AML, client due diligence, financial crime, onboarding or lifecycle management within a regulated financial services environment.
  • Strong understanding of AML/KYC, Customer Due Diligence, Enhanced Due Diligence and regulatory requirements relevant to Wealth Management and Private Banking clients, including HKMA and/or MAS expectations.
  • Experience managing complex client structures, including individuals, corporates, trusts, intermediaries or other legal entities, and assessing associated ownership, control, source of wealth and source of funds considerations.
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills, with the ability to assess client risk, identify financial crime or regulatory concerns and make sound, well-documented decisions.
  • Proven stakeholder management skills and the confidence to challenge Front Office submissions or elevate matters where evidence does not meet policy or regulatory requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation quality and data integrity, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver against service levels.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Law or another relevant discipline.
  • Direct experience within Wealth Management, Private Banking or a similar high-net-worth client environment.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications that'll help

  • Professional AML/KYC or financial crime certification, such as CAMS or ICA.
  • Practical knowledge of FATCA, CRS, AEOI and tax documentation requirements.
  • Experience leading process improvement, automation, workflow tooling, operating model redesign or transformation initiatives in a regulated environment.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Mandarin would be advantageous.
