Job Specifications

‐ Minimum 1 year of experience in kitchens, restaurants or F&B operations preferred

‐ Prior experience in nursing home or healthcare kitchen settings is an advantage

‐ Physically fit with good stamina to perform kitchen tasks, lift items and stand for long hours

‐ Basic food preparation knowledge

‐ Good communication and teamwork skills

‐ Able to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision

‐ Positive attitude, respectful and mindful when working around elderly residents

‐ Willing to learn and attend mandatory food hygiene training

Job Summary

The Kitchen Assistant plays an essential role in supporting kitchen operations by assisting in food preparation, ensuring cleanliness and hygiene, and contributing to meal service delivery for residents. This role is vital in helping team serve safe, nutritious and appealing meals tailored to the needs of elderly residents.

Job Responsibilities

‐ Wash, peel, cut and chop vegetables, fruits and other ingredients as directed

‐ Assist cooks/chefs in simple food preparation and cooking tasks as needed

‐ Support food plating and portioning for resident meal service, including special diets (e.g. texture‑modified meals)

‐ Prepare and portion condiments, beverages or side dishes

‐ Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, walls and food prep areas

‐ Wash kitchen equipment, utensils, crockery and trays according to hygiene standards

‐ Dispose of food waste appropriately and maintain clear waste separation

‐ Comply with all food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards per SFA, MOH and EatSafe requirements

‐ Assist with setting up meal trays or trolleys for distribution

‐ Ensure meals are served timely, at correct temperatures and in the right portions

‐ Help retrieve trays/trolleys and clean up after meals

‐ Support receiving and unpacking of deliveries, checking freshness and quantity

‐ Store ingredients properly and assist in labelling and rotating stock

‐ Work with kitchen team to support operations during daily service and festive occasions

‐ Perform any other duties as assigned by the on‑site Sous Chef and/or Chef de Partie
‐ 6‑day work week (subject to nursing home roster), may be required to work weekends, public holidays and during emergency situations

‐ Work environment involved standing for extended periods, handling hot food and operating kitchen equipment
