Job summary

A commodities trading company is seeking a Senior Accountant to manage financial records and ensure compliance with tax regulations in Singapore. The successful candidate will prepare financial transactions, assist in audits, and support reporting processes. Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, ideally with ACCA or CPA, and have experience in a Big 4 firm or trading company. Proficiency in Excel and strong analytical skills are essential in this role.

The Company

Our client in the commodities trading industry is looking to hire a Senior Accountant as the company expands its operations into Singapore.

The Role

The accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with tax and regulatory requirements, and providing timely reporting to support decision-making.

Key responsibilities include

  • Prepare and record financial transactions including assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses.
  • Maintain and reconcile subsidiary accounts.
  • Assist in preparing financial statements and budgets.
  • Collaborate with local service providers for account management and tax filings.
  • Ensure timely tax declarations (monthly, quarterly, annually).
  • Lead internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Develop and document accounting policies and internal controls.
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP principles.
  • Provide technical accounting support to management.
Your Profile

To be successful in this role, you should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, ideally with ACCA or CPA. Experience working in Big 4 and/or a physical trading company is desirable. You should have strong knowledge of accounting principles, experience with general ledger functions, proficient in excel and powerpoint, strong analytical skills and good attention to detail.
