Job summary

A technology solutions provider based in Singapore is seeking a skilled Database Administrator to manage and optimize relational and distributed databases. The ideal candidate will have 4-5 years of experience with PostgreSQL and a solid understanding of database security and automation. Responsibilities include maintaining high availability and supporting data ingestion pipelines. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field is required. Remote work can be considered.

Job Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain relational and distributed databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, HDFS) across multiple environments.
• Implement and manage database configurations, replication, and backups to ensure high availability, data integrity, and disaster recovery readiness.
• Participate in database design and architecture discussions — advising on schema design, indexing, and partitioning strategies.
• Perform query optimization and performance tuning to enhance system efficiency and responsiveness.
• Support data ingestion pipelines and integration with modern frameworks such as Apache Iceberg, Apache Hudi, GraphDB, or VectorDB.
• Monitor and troubleshoot database performance and operational issues, escalating complex cases when necessary.
• Automate routine administrative tasks using Python, PowerShell, or Bash scripts.
• Enforce security controls, user access management, and audit compliance in alignment with organizational standards.
• Collaborate closely with developers, DevOps engineers, and data analysts to support ongoing product and feature development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 4–5 years of hands‑on experience in database administration, particularly with PostgreSQL or similar RDBMS platforms.
• Strong understanding of query tuning, indexing, and partitioning techniques.
• Experience working with distributed data or data lake frameworks (e.g., HDFS, Apache Iceberg, Apache Hudi).
• Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, Bash, or PowerShell).
• Familiarity with graph or vector databases (e.g., GraphDB, Neo4j, VectorDB) is an advantage.
• Working knowledge of database security, access control, and backup/recovery best practices.
