[Key Job Responsibilities]

As a Junior Desktop Engineer at BusinessIT Pte Ltd, you will be an essential part of the IT support team, helping to ensure reliable and effective technical support for our users. This role is ideal for individuals starting their IT career and looking to gain hands‑on experience in a dynamic support environment. Your daily tasks will include:

• End‑User Support: Assist with basic technical support for desktops, laptops and peripheral devices to minimise user downtime.
• Hardware Setup: Support the installation, configuration and basic troubleshooting of desktops, laptops, monitors and printers.
• Software Assistance: Assist in the installation and configuration of standard software packages; escalated complex issues to senior engineers.
• Network Connectivity: Provide first‑level support for basic network issues (e.g. cable connections, Wi‑Fi connectivity, printer sharing).
• Ticket Management: Record and track user issues via the ticketing system, escalated when necessary and follow up on pending requests.
• Asset Tracking: Help with inventory logging of IT equipment and reporting of asset movement or status.
• Security Awareness: Follow security protocols and assist in keeping systems updated with patches and antivirus definitions.
• Team Support: Collaborate with senior engineers and other support staff to learn and grow technical knowledge while resolving user issues.

[A Day in the Life]

Your day as a Junior Desktop Engineer begins with checking open tickets and preparing your task list under the guidance of the team lead. You may help set up new laptops for incoming staff, assist a user with a slow PC or troubleshoot a printer not connecting to the network. You’ll learn on the job by shadowing experienced engineers, escalated complex tasks and gradually taking on more responsibility. By the end of the day, you’ll have logged your tasks, learned something new and contributed to the team’s support goals.

• Nitec in Information Technology, Computer Engineering or related field.
• Basic understanding of Windows operating systems and troubleshooting steps.

• Ability to follow standard operating procedures and escalated when needed.

[Preferred Qualifications]

• Up to 1 year of experience in an IT support/helpdesk role (internship included).
• Familiarity with Active Directory, Office 365 or any ITSM ticketing system.
• Certification in CompTIA IT Fundamentals or equivalent is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of computer networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
