About FabLab

FabLab SP, established in 2011 through collaboration among SP's engineering and maritime schools, focuses on transforming students into self-directed learners with technical expertise and safety awareness. It emphasizes hands-on training using cutting-edge digital fabrication technology and fosters community and industry connections. FabLab SP is a distributed network of spaces on SP Campus equipped with various tools, fostering multidisciplinary student and industrial engagement projects.

About the Role

We are seeking a Junior Designer to join our team on a temporary appointment. The successful candidate will support the development of visual concepts and production assets, ensuring projects are executed to professional standards and within timeline.

You will work closely with the design and fabrication team to prepare files for print and production, assist in creating prototypes or mock-ups, and coordinate student agents involved in project execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the creation and development of visual concepts and graphic assets for ongoing projects and exhibitions.
  • Prepare and finalize artwork files for printing, laser cutting, and digital fabrication.
  • Assist in mock-up creation, prototype builds, and fabrication tasks within the FabLab or workshop environment.
  • Coordinate and schedule student agents for project tasks and support roles.
  • Maintain proper documentation of project progress, inventory, and visual assets.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure consistent quality and alignment with project objectives and timelines.
Requirements
  • Background in Visual Communication, Design, Digital Media, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and basic familiarity with 3D software (SketchUp, Fusion 360, Blender 3D or similar) preferred.
  • Knowledge of digital fabrication tools (laser cutter, 3D printer, digital cutting machine) is an advantage.
  • Strong eye for design, attention to detail, and ability to translate ideas into visual concepts.
  • Organized and self-motivated with good time management skills.
  • Comfortable working hands‑on in a fast‑paced, creative environment.

Successful candidates will be offered a contract until 31 March 2026.
