Job description

At Flour Power SG, we are more than a bakery — we are an inclusive learning and working space where individuals with special needs gain real‑world experience, training, and employment opportunities.

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Junior Baker who not only loves baking but is also passionate about mentoring and guiding persons with special needs in the kitchen. This role combines hands‑on baking with teaching, encouragement, and teamwork, helping to create an environment where everyone can contribute and thrive.

Responsibilities
  • Follow and guide others through standard recipes to ensure consistent product quality.
  • Accurately measure, weigh, and prepare ingredients while assisting colleagues who may need support.
  • Monitor oven temperatures, mixing speeds, and equipment for safe operation.
  • Provide step‑by‑step guidance to special needs team members on simple kitchen tasks (e.g., weighing, mixing, packing).
  • Demonstrate patience and empathy in coaching individuals at different learning speeds.
  • Decorate, glaze, or pipe icing on baked goods as required.
  • Foster an inclusive, respectful, and safe working environment.
  • Adhere to health, hygiene, and food safety standards.
  • Assist in cleaning and maintaining kitchen tools, equipment, and storage areas.
  • Help with packing and preparation of baked goods for deliveries.
  • Maintain accurate production and order records.
  • Work closely with supervisors, caregivers, and trainers to support the learning journey of special needs staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Baker or Supervisor.
Qualifications
  • High school certificate or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a bakery, pastry kitchen, or culinary role.
  • Culinary training/certificate (preferred).
  • Passion for inclusive employment and social impact.
  • Experience mentoring, teaching, or working with persons with special needs (an advantage, not required — training provided).
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and adaptability when guiding others.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift up to 25 kg.
  • Willingness to learn and contribute to Flour Power’s mission of empowerment through baking.
