JOB TITLE: IT SPECIALIST

Role

The IT Specialist will provide technical support and ensure the smooth operation of the school’s IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, networks, and audiovisual (AV) systems. This role is responsible for maintaining reliable IT services to support teaching, learning, and administrative functions across the school.

Responsibilities

IT Support & Maintenance

  • Provide first-line technical support to staff, students, and visitors for IT-related issues.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain hardware such as desktops, laptops, printers, projectors, and mobile devices.
  • Install, update, and manage software applications, ensuring compliance with licensing agreements.
  • Perform routine system checks, backups, and preventive maintenance.

Network & Systems Administration

  • Support day-to-day operation of the school’s network, including Wi-Fi and internet connectivity.
  • Assist with user account creation, password management, and permissions on school systems.
  • Ensure data security, user privacy, and adherence to IT policies.

Audiovisual (AV) Setup & Support

  • Set up and operate AV systems (projectors, sound systems, microphones, video conferencing, interactive whiteboards) for classes, meetings, and school events.
  • Provide on-site support during assemblies, presentations, and special events.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot AV equipment to ensure reliability and quality output.

Training & Documentation

  • Provide basic training and guidance to staff and students on IT systems and software.
  • Prepare and maintain IT documentation, including user guides, asset inventory, and maintenance logs.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work closely with the academic and administrative teams to identify IT needs and propose solutions.
  • Assist in evaluating and implementing new technologies to enhance the teaching and learning experience.
  • Liaise with external vendors and service providers for equipment servicing and upgrades.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant IT support experience, preferably in an educational or service-oriented environment.
  • Strong knowledge of hardware, operating systems (Windows/MacOS), Microsoft 365/Google Workspace, and standard office applications.
  • Familiarity with networking (LAN/Wi-Fi), printers, and basic server administration.
  • Hands-on experience with AV equipment setup, operation, and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a service-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Adaptable to a fast-paced international school environment.
