Purpose

The IT Finance Manager is an IT professional with a strong interest in financial management. This role oversees BAU (Business As Usual) expense spend related to IT operations, including software licensing, hardware warranties, and maintenance contracts. The ideal candidate will leverage their technical expertise and understanding of licensing models to ensure cost-effective and compliant management of IT assets and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Expense Oversight:
    • Track and manage all BAU IT expenses, focusing on software licensing, hardware warranties, and maintenance agreements.
    • Analyze spend data and provide actionable insights to IT leadership.
  • IT Asset & Vendor Management:
    • Maintain accurate records of IT hardware and software assets.
    • Manage relationships with vendors and ensure timely renewals and compliance with contract terms.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting:
    • Collaborate with IT and Finance teams to develop and manage budgets for IT operational expenses.
    • Forecast future spend based on technology lifecycle and business.
  • Process Optimization:
    • Identify opportunities to optimize IT spend and improve procurement and asset management processes.
    • Implement best practices for expense tracking and reporting within IT.
  • Compliance & Audit Support:
    • Ensure IT spend complies with internal policies and external regulations.
    • Prepare documentation and support audit processes as required.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with IT, Procurement, and Finance to align spend with business priorities.
    • Communicate financial implications of IT decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (Finance coursework or certification a plus).
  • 5+ years of experience in IT operations, asset management, or IT procurement.
  • Strong interest and experience in financial management, budgeting, and expense tracking.
  • Proficiency with IT asset management systems and financial analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SAP, Oracle).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical abilities.
Preferred
  • Experience managing IT budgets and vendor contracts.
  • Deep understanding of software licensing constructs, including:
    • License models based on number of CPUs, cores, users, or devices.
    • Calculating license requirements for server environments (e.g., determining licenses needed based on CPU/core count).
    • Familiarity with common licensing models (perpetual, subscription, concurrent, etc.).
  • Knowledge of software licensing compliance and optimization strategies.
  • Experience with hardware maintenance agreements and lifecycle management.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards (e.g., SOX, GDPR) as they relate to IT spend.
