The Database Administrator will be responsible for leading and managing database changes, ensuring service levels, and maintaining performance and availability of SQL Server databases. The role involves database design, performance tuning, incident resolution, and implementation of service continuity measures. The administrator will work closely with stakeholders to provide regular reporting, lead database implementation initiatives, and stay updated with evolving database technologies.

What will you do?

• Lead and manage database changes through change request processes
• Provide status reporting to stakeholders on database changes and incidents
• Participate in development projects including logical and physical database design
• Manage customer interactions in data modeling and review meetings
• Investigate incidents, provide prompt resolutions, and ensure follow-up actions
• Perform performance tuning, optimization, and setup of SQL Server databases
• Proactively monitor database performance and availability and implement corrective actions
• Document and maintain database configurations in line with service levels
• Lead service level monitoring and propose action plans when required
• Implement and test service continuity measures including backup and disaster recovery
• Lead in database implementation initiatives and projects
• Stay updated with emerging database technologies
• Contribute as a strong team player and leader in cross-functional projects

The ideal candidate should possess:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent certification
• More than five years of experience in SQL Server installation, configuration, and management
• Certification in SQL Server administration and management
• More than two years of advanced skills in SQL Server clustering and AlwaysOn Availability Groups
• Strong expertise in writing and debugging complex SQL statements, stored procedures, and functions
• Proficiency in designing relational tables with proper normalization and denormalization
• Experience with ER-diagram design tools
• Expertise in SQL Server performance tuning and index optimization
• Ability to identify unused or missing indexes and resolve query bottlenecks
• Hands-on experience with SQL Profiler Trace, Extended Events, and performance monitoring tools
• Knowledge of database performance maintenance, including index reorganization and archival strategies
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for database optimization
• Effective leadership and communication skills for managing stakeholders
• Ability to propose and implement corrective and preventive measures proactively
• Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
• Experience in setting up and managing database replication
• Experience in Oracle database installation and administration
