Job description

Role Outline

The Vice President (VP) / Senior Vice President (SVP), IPB Market Manager (North Asia) is a pivotal leadership role within the Asia South Wealth Client Advisory Business. Reporting directly to the Cluster Head, this individual is accountable for leading, mentoring, and scaling a high-performing team of Citigold Client Advisors managing offshore North Asia clients (China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan).

As a strategic, commercially driven, and digitally-minded leader, you will champion an advice-led, Citi’s Chief Investments Office (CIO)-powered wealth management approach. You will drive proactive business development to acquire new-to-bank clients, deepen existing relationships, and grow asset under management (AUM) and wallet share.

Simultaneously, you will foster a robust risk and control culture, ensuring strict adherence to regulatory frameworks, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) standards, and Fair Dealing Guidelines (FDG).

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Advisory & Market Growth

  • Deliver Advice-Led Value Proposition: Lead the execution of Citi’s "Advice-led, CIO-powered, OneCiti" wealth proposition, ensuring holistic, portfolio-based solutions are at the center of every client relationship.
  • Enhance Portfolio & Asset Allocation: Upskill and coach Client Advisors on advanced portfolio construction, asset allocation, and the deployment of sophisticated wealth solutions (including structured notes and alternative investments).
  • Drive Market Expansion: Own and execute the North Asia market strategy, spearheading strategic initiatives to expand Citi's presence and competitive positioning across China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
  • Leverage Cross-Functional Synergy: Partner seamlessly with cross-functional specialists - including Investment Counselors, Wealth Planning Advisors, and FX Experts—to deliver best-in-class, integrated financial solutions.
  • Execute Client Segmentation Strategy: Implement tailored strategies for Accredited Investors (AI) and Non-Accredited Investors, driving "Connect to Wealth" initiatives to premiumize the client experience and increase CPC (Citigold Private Client) density.

Digital & AI-Powered Operations

  • Streamline Workflows: Champion the adoption of digital tools and AI-driven platforms to radically simplify advisor and client workflows, unlocking team capacity, speed, and commercial growth.
  • Harness Data-Driven Insights: Leverage available wealth data and client insights to drive hyper-personalized client engagement and proactive advisory.

People Leadership & Agile Execution

  • Foster Agile Leadership: Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and innovation.
  • Cultivate Talent: Strengthen the Employee Value Proposition (EVP) to attract, develop, and retain top-tier advisory talent. Drive employee engagement and foster cross-team collaboration and pollination.
  • Champion Continuous Upskilling: Drive continuous professional development leveraging available resources to upskill advisors on emerging market trends, digital tools, and regulatory standards.

Risk, Controls & Compliance Leadership

  • Regulatory Compliance, Risk Management & Culture: Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency. Strengthen internal controls and foster a proactive risk culture with ownership at all levels, reinforcing timely escalations and resolution of Self-Identified Issues (SIIs).
  • Sales Conduct & Fair Dealing: Provide strong managerial oversight of sales practices to minimize sales process risks. Ensure strict adherence to Singapore's Fair Dealing Guidelines (FDG), ensuring fair outcomes and empathetic complaints handling.
  • Financial Crime Prevention: Ensure rigorous execution of Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter Financing of Terrorism (CFT), and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) controls, leveraging data analytics to sharpen the detection of risk indicators.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience: Minimum 8 years of experience in wealth management, private banking, or offshore financial advisory, with a proven track record of leading and managing client-facing advisory teams.
  • Market Expertise: Deep understanding of the North Asia offshore wealth market (China, Hong Kong, Taiwan), including regulatory landscapes, client behaviors, and investment preferences.
  • Product Knowledge: Strong expertise in holistic wealth solutions, including portfolio asset allocation, structured products, alternative investments, and leverage/lending solutions.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in English, with professional proficiency in Cantonese and Mandarin highly preferred, as the role requires frequent liaison with North Asia-based clients and stakeholders.
