Job description
About the firm

January Capital is an established asset manager with offices in Singapore and Australia. At January Capital, we seek to invest in technology-led businesses that will power growth in the Asia‑Pacific region over the coming decades. We act as a solutions provider by the provision of both credit and equity across a company's lifecycle.

We're inspired by those individuals who are willing to dedicate themselves to solve some of the region's biggest challenges and challenge the status quo. Today, we are proud to have partnered with more than 50 exceptional companies, including Skedulo, GO1, Akulaku, and Shopback. We manage more than $400 million of assets on behalf of our investors who are comprised of leading institutions, foundations, family offices, and individuals.

About the role

Recently, we've experienced an exciting period of growth across the firm, as we look to invest in the most promising companies in the Asia‑Pacific region. As our own ambition continues to grow as a firm, we have been building out a dedicated function that can grow our base of limited partners, as well as engage and build long‑term relationships with our existing limited partners.

We are now looking to hire an additional Investor Relations team member to join our firm. This role will have the opportunity to work alongside the firm's leadership to support January Capital's capital formation efforts and investor relation coverage for the firm's core strategies.

The right person for this role is not just bright and extremely motivated but ultimately is "comfortable with the uncomfortable". We are growing quickly as a firm and the ability to move at pace will be important. Given the external‑facing nature of this role, we are looking for someone who is "low‑ego, high integrity", demonstrates grit and a "get‑it‑done" attitude as well as having the ability to communicate our firm's mission and vision.

Role Responsibilities
  • Supporting the growth of the firm's assets under management through establishing and maintaining relationships with private wealth managers, family offices and institutional investors
  • Support the firm's core leadership by assisting with investor‑facing communications and the development of systems/processes that make January Capital an investment firm of choice
  • Be a driving force in the origination and prospecting of new limited partner relationships
  • Be a key member of key fundraising programs such as deal specific fundraising or separate institutional mandates
  • Working with our team and suppliers to ensure existing limited partners have high satisfaction levels of our services (investor reporting, access to information etc)
  • Communicate and manage relationships with existing and prospective investors as well as provide input on regular investor updates
  • Working with the firm's existing investor relations team, handle inbound investor enquiries and work with business unit heads when further information / due diligence is required
What We're Looking For
  • 2‑5+ years of professional experience in a fast‑paced institutional sales (i.e., FX) / distribution / capital formation role, with a strong preference for candidates who have a track record of success in raising meaningful capital
  • Preference is for wholesale/family office relationships, with institutional relationships also seen as favorable
  • Strong track record of distributing or managing investment products, with a preference for alternative investments
  • Experience as a foundational team member at an investment firm will be viewed favorably, particularly where you have been able to point to examples of setting up initial systems and processes
  • Ability to work independently to meet deadlines whilst maintaining a high degree of accuracy and outstanding quality of work
  • Hands‑on self‑starter with a can‑do attitude, ability to work autonomously and eagerness to take on any task, big or small
  • A strong desire to integrate with the technology and startup community in the broader Asia Pacific region
