Role: Investment Banking / M&A Lead – Mining & Commodities
Key Responsibilities
Deal Origination & Evaluation
- Source and assess deals in exploration and mining rights, projects and operating assets (acquisitions, farm-ins, JVs, divestments).
- Lead financial modelling, valuation and scenario analysis.
- Integrate geological, technical and feasibility inputs into investment decisions.
Transaction Execution & Negotiation
- Lead end-to-end M&A execution: due diligence, structuring, documentation and approvals.
- Lead negotiations with project owners, rights holders, landowners, governments and key partners.
- Align with legal, tax and advisors to manage risk and optimise structure.
Technical & Commercial Due Diligence
- Oversee data rooms, project information and technical documentation.
- Coordinate technical DD with geology, mining and ESG specialists and convert findings into clear commercial views.
- Join site visits and management meetings for overseas projects.
Stakeholder & Relationship Management
- Serve as primary external contact with project owners, rights holders, sellers, co-investors and financiers.
- Build strategic relationships in China, Singapore, Africa and other key jurisdictions.
- Represent the company in negotiations, partner discussions and industry forums.
Documentation & Communication
- Prepare investment proposals, IC papers, term sheets and deal presentations.
- Draft and translate (EN/中文) key project documents and reports.
- Ensure transactions align with company strategy, standards and risk appetite.
Requirements
- 5–10+ years in investment banking, PE, corporate development or M&A, ideally in mining/resources/commodities
- Experience with exploration/mining rights, resource assets or project portfolios
- Strong financial modelling and deal execution track record
- Bilingual in English and Chinese (spoken and written) with strong business communication skills in both languages.
- Willing to travel and visit overseas/remote mining sites
- Strong communication, cross-cultural collaboration skills and a hands-on, deal-driven mindset.
- Open to candidates based in Singapore and Mainland China: Cross-border experience:
- If based in Singapore: prior experience working with/within Mainland China and African mining or commodity projects is highly preferred.
- If based in Mainland China: exposure to Singapore and African markets is highly preferred.
