Job Summary

As an Investment and Portfolio Management Trainee, you will be responsible for evaluating and enhancing the financial and operational performance of our portfolio companies. You will possess strong problem-solving skills, stakeholder management abilities across all levels, and agile project management experience. Ideally, you would have a strong background in M&A deal strategy execution, managed post-M&A integration work, or a management consulting role driving special projects. You will collaborate closely with investment teams and the senior management of portfolio companies to identify opportunities for value creation and implement strategic initiatives aimed at achieving sustainable growth and profitability.

Role Context

Current projects include work in Southeast Asia markets such as the Philippines and Thailand. Experience engaging stakeholders and navigating business practices in these markets is beneficial to accelerate onboarding; candidates without such experience but with strong transferable skills are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities
1. With Portfolio Companies
  • Partner with portfolio company management teams to provide guidance and support in implementing performance improvement initiatives, driving accountability, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Through M&A due diligence findings, lead the identification, planning and execution of strategic initiatives aimed to achieve value creation through enhancing operational efficiency and cost optimization for the portfolio companies identified.
  • Conduct thorough analysis of portfolio company performance, financial metrics, and operational KPIs to identify opportunities for improvement and value creation.
  • Manage and drive special growth projects, process improvement initiatives with portfolio company team to drive organic growth.
  • Dependent on portfolio company’s requirements, collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement post-merger integration initiatives, including organizational restructuring, process optimization, cost optimization, and technology harmonization, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and timelines.
  • Prepare and present executive-ready material with timely and relevant updates to C-suites and Board.
  • Support development of documentation of key performance management deliverables and processes with the portfolio company management team as part of process improvement initiatives.
2. With our Investment team
  • Collaborate with investment teams to understand M&A due diligence findings and refine performance enhancement plans tailored to the specific needs and objectives of each portfolio company.
  • Develop financial models and perform valuation analyses, including discounted cash flows and relative valuations.
  • Conduct fundamental research, due diligence, and industry analysis, either independently or in collaboration with deal advisors.
  • Assist senior team members in live deal transactions from origination through execution.
  • Prepare comprehensive performance reports and presentations for senior management and investment committees, highlighting key insights, challenges, and recommendations for strategic action.
  • Communicate and manage relevant project plans and activities with key stakeholders on potential market partnerships.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to present a holistic value proposition to our LPs and potential investors.
  • Track and monitor the live deal pipeline and conduct portfolio monitoring through regular management earnings calls.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, economics, or related field with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
  • MBA candidates in their final year of study are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large complex projects and driving results in fast-paced environments in operating companies.
  • Demonstrated expertise with Microsoft Office Suites.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data sets and draw actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
