Job summary

Alvarez & Marsal in Singapore is seeking penultimate-year interns in our Restructuring Practice to apply analytical skills to complex financial and operational turnaround initiatives, including insolvency contexts.

You will work with management teams, gather data, build financial models, and help prepare client deliverables using Excel, PowerPoint and Word. This internship offers hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to a fast-paced, entrepreneurial culture in Southeast Asia.

Qualifications

• Penultimate year Bachelor’s student in Accounting or Business.
• Excellent financial modelling and ability to analyse financial statements.
• Fluent in English; Mandarin/Bahasa Indonesia preferred.
• Strong MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; team player.

The Team

Our Restructuring and Insolvency practice offers critical assistance to companies that are under-performing or experiencing a full-blown liquidity crisis. Working directly with company management, A&M helps stabilise financial and operational performance by developing and implementing comprehensive profitability and working capital improvements. A&M's involvement reassures creditors that the company is taking important steps to address its problems and maximise its value.

In addition to the above, members of our Restructuring and Insolvency practice are regularly appointed to administer the judicial management and winding up of companies.

A&M is rapidly expanding in Southeast Asia and as a result, we are seeking to hire Intern level candidates in our Restructuring Practice. Based in Singapore, you will be applying your analytical skills and deep understanding of accounting and finance to a diverse range of complex assignments with focus on all aspects of financial and operational restructuring and turnaround initiatives, both in and out of bankruptcy or distressed situations.

How You Will Contribute

• Deal with various stakeholders of the client undergoing corporate insolvency and restructuring which include judicial management, receivership and formal and informal insolvency process. Assist in the preparation and day to day administration of the affairs of the client including recovery of assets, fulfilling statutory obligation, adjudication of claims and investigation of past transactions;
• Effectively gather, analyze and sort through large data sets that sometimes can be unorganized and incomplete; and
• Utilize Excel, PowerPoint, Word and other applications to assist in creating client deliverables.

Qualifications

• Penultimate year students studying for Bachelor's in Accounting or Business
• Possess excellent financial modelling skills and ability to analyse financial statements
• Fluent in written and spoken English and other preferred language including but not limited to Mandarin or Bahasa Indonesia
• Strong in MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
• Excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to communicate with all levels of client personnel
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
• Team player who can excel in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, challenging work environment
• A university student who is interested in an Internship or alternatively can work 2-3 days per week.
