Job summary

Micron Technology, Inc. in Singapore invites a full-time intern to explore AMHS operations within the Lean Transformation Office. You will join engineering and operations teams in recurring discussions and problem-solving sessions, applying data analytics to real manufacturing challenges.

You will learn AMHS processes, use Tableau, Power BI, Python and SQL to analyze data, and contribute to improvements in a state-of-the-art semiconductor environment. A 4–6 month commitment is expected.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in data analytics or related field.
• Interest in data analytics concepts and visualization tools.
• Familiarity with BI tools and programming is advantageous.

Automation Tool Operational Excellence

Project Description

Micron Manufacturing utilizes an Automated Material Handling System (AMHS) to reduce manual touchpoints and improve traceability, safety, and quality.

The intern will have the opportunity to participate in recurring engineering discussions and cross-functional collaboration sessions with the engineering team and various departments. Through these sessions, the intern will contribute ideas and learn how operational challenges are evaluated and resolved.

The intern will learn the processes within AMHS and apply problem-solving methodologies, coupled with data analytics, to study practical manufacturing challenges and contribute to improvements in a state-of-the-art semiconductor manufacturing environment.

Objective of the Project

The objective of this project is to develop the intern’s understanding of AMHS operations and apply data analytics and structured problem-solving methodologies to identify operational improvement opportunities.

The intern may be considered for future full-time employment opportunities based on business needs, role availability, and an assessment of the intern’s suitability and performance during the internship.

Project Scope

• Learn the functions of AMHS in both Assembly and Test operations.
• Gain exposure to data analytics and visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Python, and Structured Query Language (SQL).
• Apply analytical and problem-solving methodologies to identify opportunities for operational and AMHS improvements.

• Develop an understanding of AMHS processes in a semiconductor manufacturing environment.
• Learn how data analytics can be applied to evaluate practical manufacturing challenges.
• Gain exposure to cross-functional engineering discussions and structured problem-solving methodologies.

Skillsets Required

• General problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Basic understanding of data analytics concepts.
• Familiarity with Tableau, Power BI, Python, SQL, or similar analytics tools is advantageous.
• Knowledge or experience in using AI tools, Generative AI, or AI Assistants to enhance productivity and problem-solving is highly valued.

Course of Interest

The ideal candidate should be pursuing a degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics and Automation, or a related field.

Duration of Period

The ideal candidate should be able to commit to a full-time internship period of 4 to 6 months.
