Job description

About the Team

The Managed Accounts team designs and runs PSPL’s discretionary model portfolios, combining quantitative portfolio construction with fundamental oversight. The team is investing in automation and tooling to scale portfolio construction, monitoring and reporting as assets under management grow.

About the Role

We are looking for an intern to support the automation and continuous improvement of our portfolio construction and monitoring processes. You will work closely with the Co-CIO and the Managed Accounts team on tools that support multi-mandate portfolio construction, optimisation and reporting, with exposure to live model portfolios and real investment workflows.

What You Will Do
  • Support the enhancement of the team’s Python-based portfolio construction and mean-variance optimisation (MVO) tools, including data pipelines, constraint logic and output formatting.
  • Help automate recurring manual processes across portfolio construction, rebalancing checks, performance attribution and client reporting.
  • Assist in maintaining and refining quantitative screening and scoring workflows used in equity mandate construction.
  • Build and test Excel/Python-based reporting outputs, including conviction-weighted allocations, yield contribution and rationale summaries.
  • Help prepare data and materials for internal investment committee reviews and portfolio deep-dives.
  • Document process workflows and contribute to internal knowledge resources for the team.
  • Assist with ad-hoc data analysis and research requests from the Co-CIO.
What We’re Looking For
  • Undergraduate or penultimate/final-year student in Finance, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or a related field.
  • Working proficiency in Python (pandas/numpy) and/or strong Excel skills; prior exposure to optimisation, data analysis or financial modelling is a plus.
  • Genuine interest in investment management, portfolio construction or quantitative finance.
  • Comfortable working with data — accurate, detail-oriented and able to spot inconsistencies.
  • Able to work independently on defined tasks while communicating progress clearly.
  • Prior coursework or personal projects involving portfolio theory, optimisation or automation are advantageous but not required.
What You Will Gain
  • Direct exposure to live discretionary model portfolios and real institutional investment processes.
  • Hands-on experience building tools used in day-to-day portfolio management decisions.
  • Mentorship from senior investment professionals, including direct working sessions with the Co-CIO.
  • A view into how a wealth management CIO office operates — from macro research to portfolio construction to committee reporting.

We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
