- Project Title: AI & Automation Enablement for Daily Facilities Operations
Project Overview
The objective of this project is to improve the efficiency, consistency, and effectiveness of daily Facilities Operations by identifying and implementing practical AI and automation solutions. The intern will shadow Facilities shift technicians to understand real operational workflows, identify manual or repetitive tasks, and translate these operational needs into simple, implementable digital solutions.
Project Scope
- Shadow Facilities Operations technicians to understand daily routines, alarm handling, logging, reporting, and coordination activities
- Observe and document current workflows, pain points, and improvement opportunities
- Identify suitable areas for AI or automation support (e.g., reporting, checklists, alerts, SOP assistance)
- Propose, design, and build basic automation or AI‑assisted solutions with guidance from Facilities Operations engineers
- Test solutions with users and refine based on feedback
- Document solution design, benefits, limitations, and future enhancement ideas
Deliverables
- Documented understanding of selected Facilities operational workflows
- At least one working AI or automation prototype (e.g., automated report, checklist, dashboard, simple bot, or script)
- Demonstrated operational benefits such as time saved, improved consistency, or reduced manual effort
- Final presentation summarizing problem statement, solution approach, results, and lessons learned
Skillsets Required
- Engineering Diploma (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automation, Controls or equivalent)
- Basic logical thinking and problem‑solving skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Basic exposure to programming, scripting, or automation tools is an advantage
- Willingness to learn, observe operations, and work with different stakeholders
No advanced AI or machine learning background is required. Training and guidance will be provided.
