Qualifications

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 5–8 years of professional software development experience, preferably in financial services or a regulated industry.
• Strong backend production experience with Java and Spring Boot, writing well-designed, testable code.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices, cloud-native tech, and Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in Mandarin and English, with ability to collaborate cross-functionally.

Job Summary

We are building a next-generation digital banking platform with AI-powered capabilities and innovative digital products - deployed in production at a regulated bank serving internal employees and real customers.

You will be the hands-on engineer building these systems. Working within a nimble, full-ownership squad, you will turn solution designs into working, production-grade systems that support customer growth and operational efficiency.

We are looking for a strong backend engineer who wants to grow into AI product implementation, working on products that directly impact customers. This role is an even split between implementing AI-powered features and building the core operation platforms that run the bank.

Job Responsibilities

Implementation of Agentic AI Features

• Implement agentic AI workflows and orchestration logic
• Build Java services and tools (APIs, integrations, state management, error handling) that enable the agent to interact with banking systems
• Connect AI agent to core banking, payments, identity, and customer systems
• Maintain business logic in version-controlled, tested services with auditable behaviouri
• Contribute to bank's own AI evaluation frameworks and system observability

Implementation of Digital Banking Capabilities

• Turn approved product and solution concepts into production systems across customer acquisition, onboarding, deposit growth, and back-office innovation
• Deliver end to end: technical design, build, testing, deployment, and production support
• Contribute to engineering standards, reusable components, and design reviews
• Build and maintain the services, APIs, and data/event pipelines underpinning our digital banking capabilities
• Ensure everything you build meets the bank's security, resilience, audit, and regulatory requirements

Collaboration with Stakeholders

• Work as one team with peer engineers from parent group, following standard frameworks and best practices
• Collaborate with product owners and solution engineers to translate defined requirements into technical designs and implementation

Requirements

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
• 5-8 years of professional software development experience, preferably in financial services or another regulated industry
• Strong backend production experience with Java and Spring Boot, with the ability to write well-designed, testable, and efficient code
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and microservice architecture, with experience in public cloud, cloud-native technologies, and Kubernetes
• Experience with banking systems, including core banking, payments, KYC, AML, or screening
• Strong curiosity about AI technologies and eagerness to learn; prior exposure to AI frameworks, RAG, or agent frameworks is a plus
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and quickly learn existing systems
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in both Mandarin and English
