Role Overview

We seek an experienced and driven Infrastructure Manager to lead our Infrastructure Team. You will work closely with stakeholders across technology, trading, and research teams to design, implement, and maintain a world-class infrastructure capable of supporting the demanding requirements of high-frequency trading.

This role involves managing and mentoring a diverse group of engineers, including Site Reliability Engineers (SREs), DevOps engineers, Linux engineers, and Network engineers. The team is responsible for the end-to-end management of both on-premise infrastructure and cloud environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the on-premise infrastructure management, including data centres and exchange colocation environments, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Manage and optimise the GCP environment for research, analytics, and other cloud-based workloads.
• Design and implement scalable, low-latency systems to support high-frequency trading activities.
• Ensure seamless integration between on-premise and cloud environments, balancing performance, cost, and scalability.
• Continuously evaluate and implement new technologies to maintain a competitive edge in infrastructure performance.
• Partner with trading, research, and engineering teams to understand infrastructure needs and deliver solutions.
• Define and execute the infrastructure roadmap, aligning it with business and technology goals.
• Work with vendors to evaluate new technologies, procure hardware, and maintain existing systems.
• Drive automation and monitoring across the infrastructure stack to minimise downtime and operational overhead.
• Establish incident response processes and ensure 24/7 availability of critical systems.
• Continuously optimise cost, performance, and operational efficiency across the on-premise and cloud environments.
• Ensure proper documentation of systems, processes, and procedures.

Requirements

• Proven experience managing and mentoring engineering teams in a positive engineering-focused environment.
• Strong technical background in at least two of the following domains:
• Linux systems engineering (Red Hat/CentOS or similar).
• DevOps practices and tools (CI/CD pipelines, IaC tools like Terraform or Ansible).
• Networking (low-latency networks, switches, routers, firewalls).
• Cloud infrastructure, preferably GCP.
• Excellent project management skills, with experience handling multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-Have

• Large-scale batch or research pipeline platforms.
• Some familiarity with the unique challenges of high-frequency trading, including low latency, high availability, and scalability requirements.
• Hands-on experience with high-performance hardware (FPGA setups, high-speed NICs).
• Knowledge of containerisation and orchestration tools (Kubernetes (GKE), Podman, k3s).
• Experience managing hybrid cloud/on-prem environments.
• Understanding of scripting languages (Python, Bash, Go, Rust) and their role in automation.
