Job summary

Singapore Airlines is seeking an experienced Middleware Engineer to join the Hybrid Platform Engineering team. You will administer and troubleshoot MQ and JBOSS across on-premises and cloud environments, and contribute to automation efforts.

You will develop automation with Ansible and Python, create SOPs, support audits and DR drills, and participate in security scans. A degree in IT and at least 5 years in IT with middleware experience are required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Information Technology or related field.
• 5+ years IT experience, with at least 3 years hands-on middleware and/or enterprise monitoring/backup tools experience.
• Expertise in managing middleware platforms (MQ, JBOSS) including installation, configuration, security, networking, and patching.
• Experience with enterprise monitoring and backup tools and other industry-standard solutions.
• Proficient in scripting and automation (Python, Ansible) to streamline tasks.
• Familiarity with networking, OS, and IT security principles.
• Experience with Agile, DevOps, CI/CD preferred.
• Strong analytical, project management, communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be part of the Hybrid Platform Engineering team

He/She will be responsible for the following:

• Provide deep administration and troubleshooting expertise for middleware technologies, particularly MQ and JBOSS, across both on-premises and cloud environments.
• Perform middleware, monitoring, and backup administration and troubleshooting activities in compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Create and maintain documentation and standard operating procedures related to middleware, monitoring, and backup tools.
• Develop automation solutions using tools such as Ansible and Python scripting to enhance agility and operational efficiency in middleware, monitoring, backup, and related infrastructure areas.
• Support audit processes, infrastructure/network security scans, disaster recovery exercises, and security-related drills.
• Research, evaluate, and deploy new middleware, monitoring, or backup technologies to reduce costs and improve operational efficiency.
• Provide on-call support according to the roster for troubleshooting and planned maintenance of production systems.

Requirements

• Possess a degree in Information Technology or related fields.
• Minimum of 5 years of IT experience, including at least 3 years of hands-on experience in middleware (MQ, JBOSS) and/or enterprise monitoring/backup tools administration.
• Expertise in managing middleware platforms (MQ, JBOSS), including installation, configuration, security, networking, storage integration, patching, and hardening; certification in at least one of these areas is preferred.
• Experience with enterprise monitoring and backup tools, along with other industry-standard solutions.
• Proficient in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Ansible) to streamline provisioning, monitoring, and backup tasks.
• Familiarity with networking and internet protocols, operating systems, and foundational IT security principles.
• Experience with Agile methodologies, DevOps, CI/CD, and related tools is preferred.
• Strong analytical, project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
