About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Industrial Designer with experience in consumer electronics, automotive, or robotics to design a humanoid robot. This person will bridge the gap between aesthetic design and mechanical functionality, working hand‑in‑hand with engineers to refine and elevate the overall look and feel of our products. This will initially be a Contract‑based role (1–3 months), with the possibility of transition into a full‑time role.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end‑to‑end, human‑AI interaction (HAI) and robot experience, from personality, look & feel, storytelling, to reliability/safety
- Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to refine current mechanical designs and ensure manufacturability
- Collaborate with external consultants, industrial design agencies, and component specialists in a project manager capacity
- Generate high‑quality renders, visualizations, and design presentations for both internal reviews and marketing use.
- Translate conceptual sketches into detailed 3D surfaces and CAD models that are ready for engineering refinement
- Research and propose materials, finishes, and manufacturing methods aligned with the product’s design goals and production constraints.
Nice to Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience designing for consumer electronics, automotive, or robotics.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as injection molding, machining, sheet metal, or additive manufacturing.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) for concept visualization and graphic creation.
- Experience with 3D modeling and sculpting software, such as:
- Blender, Fusion 360, or Rhino for modeling and mechanical collaboration.
- ZBrush, 3DCoat, or Nomad Sculpt for organic surface sculpting.
- Rendering tools like KeyShot, V‑Ray, or Cycles are a plus.
- Strong sense of form development, color theory, and proportion.
- Ability to communicate ideas clearly through sketches, storyboards, and renderings.
- Bonus: Experience working on robotics products, mobility devices, or mechanical assemblies that blend industrial and functional design.
