Job summary

SEAGER INC. PTE LTD seeks an in-house product designer to shape luggage, travel bags, and accessories, turning trends into tangible products.

You'll sketch, render, select materials, and oversee prototypes, collaborating with marketing, merchandiser, and suppliers to ensure brand alignment and quality.

Ideal candidates hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, at least 1 year of product design experience, and proficiency in Adobe CS.

Responsibilities

In-house Product Designer responsibilities include defining product specifications, creating digital or print drawings and designing fully-functional products. You are responsible for creating designs for luggage, travel accessories, bags water bottle including packaging.

Job Description

Concept Development: Generating ideas for new luggage, leather goods, bags, and travel accessories, based on market trends, customer preferences, and brand identity. This involves researching current fashion trends, understanding market demographics and brainstorming creative concepts, and creating mood boards to visually articulate design concepts, incorporating imagery, color schemes, textures, and themes to evoke the intended brand aesthetic and target audience preferences.

Sketching and Rendering: Translating conceptual ideas into sketches and detailed technical drawings using traditional methods or computer-aided design software. Designer need to have strong skills and a good understanding of proportions, materials, and construction techniques.

Material Selection: Choosing appropriate materials such as leather, fabric, hardware and embellishments for each design, considering factors like durability, aesthetics, cost and sustainability when selecting materials.

Prototype Selection: Working closely with patternmakers and sample makers to create prototypes of new designs. Designer need to oversee the prototype development process, providing feedback and making adjustments as needs to ensure the final product meet vision.

Project Management: Create and manage timelines, ensuring critical milestones are met throughout the product development lifestyle.

Technical Specifications: Creating detailed technical specifications for each design, including dimensions, materials, construction methods and hardware details.

Collaboration: Collaborating with cross-functional teams such as marketing, merchandiser and sales to ensure designs are align with brand objective and market demand. You also need to work with suppliers and manufacturers to source materials and oversee production processes.

Quality control: Conducting quality control checks on sample products and production batches to ensure designs meet quality standards and specifications.

Trend Analysis: Staying informed about current fashion trends, consumer preferences, and competitor offerings.

Presentation: Presenting design concepts and collections to internal stakeholders through sketches, mood boards, and sample presentations.

Ideal Profile

• Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following: Architecture, Arts, Industrial designs or a related field.
• Minimum one (1) year of experience in products design, preferably in retail industry. Preferably in a fast-paced, cross functional environment. Candidate with more years of experience will be considered for a Senior role.
• Proficiency in Adobe (CS, Photoshop, Illustrator), knowledge in any other design software will be an added advantage.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and project requirements. Strong creative vision and ability to think outside the box.
• Ability to generate original ideas and solutions to complex design problems.
• Ability to effectively communicate design concepts and rationale to diverse stakeholders and collaborate across teams.
• Meticulous attention to detail and a passion for crafting exceptional user experiences
• Positive, commitment and “can-do” attitude.
• Good leadership, communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
