The Google DeepMind Institute (GDI) has a unique role in GDM, to develop solutions and resources built on GDM's technologies and expertise that extend the benefits to humanity. We are a path to real world impact, beyond ABC products and services or making our research public.

We are seeking a driven Impact Analyst with a passion for using data to drive social impact in our Life Sciences, Climate and Environment and Education efforts. This highly collaborative role will be instrumental in transforming complex data sets into actionable insights, handling ad hoc stakeholder requests, and developing robust data analysis infrastructure.

Job responsibilities
  • Impact Definition: Partnering with teams to articulate their measures of social impact and how they will measure success
  • Impact Analysis: Design and execute in-depth analyses to measure the impact of our work
  • Insight Communication: Translate complex data findings into clear, visually compelling reports, presentations, and dashboards customised for diverse collaborators
  • Ad Hoc Analysis: Respond effectively to data-driven queries from various collaborators, providing prompt and accurate analysis
  • Collaboration: Work closely with GDI teams to understand their data needs and drive project objectives based on insights
  • Data Infrastructure Development: Build and maintain data pipelines and processes to ensure clean, organised, and accessible data
Minimum Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics or a related field
  • 7+ years of statistical analysis and modelling experience, including hypothesis testing, regression modelling, causal inference and trial design.
  • 7 + years of data science experience working with relevant programming languages (e.g. Python, SQL) and techniques (e.g. supervised and unsupervised machine learning, clustering).
  • 3+ years of experience evaluating and communicating scientific, social or economic impact, for example by developing and implementing impact measurement frameworks to inform decision‑making and communication
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative software development practices
  • Experience translating technical findings into digestible narratives and visualisations for a non‑technical audience
  • Project management experience executing independently and providing end‑to‑end project leadership when needed
  • Experience in key sectors such as science, sustainability, education or AI for good.
