Job description

As the school’s ICT manager, you will:

  • manage, advise and support the school management in planning and implementing ICT plans
  • assist with plans to improve and implement effective ICT systems for T & L and school administrative systems
  • work closely with other stakeholders e.g. MOE’s IT Division, on initiatives that support learning through ICT.
Key Responsibilities
Job Description
  1. Business Solutioning and ICT Planning
    • Work with HOD/SH ICT on gathering the ICT needs of the school
    • Propose innovative solutions that meet the requirements of the school including technical specifications and marketing pricing of these solutions.
    • Based on instructions of HOD ICT, the ICT Manager may need to:
      • schedule and plan the deployment of ICT staff to support school events.
      • assist the DE in providing hardware support.
      • assist other ICT support staff in school’s project.
  2. Asset Management and Procurement
    • Manage the school’s ICT assets and resources such as:
      • Replacement and condemnation of ICT equipment.
      • Coordinate ICT equipment on loan effectively and timely.
    • Assist HOD ICT in procuring ICT Equipment and Services based on the school’s requirement (through bulk tenders, calling tenders and quotations etc.) that comply with MOE’s guidelines.
  3. Support of ICT Programmes/Platforms/Infrastructure in school
    • Manage all school-initiated ICT-related projects.
    • Provide progress updates of projects to the HOD/SH ICT promptly.
    • Prepare relevant documentations and guidelines pertaining to project/s.
    • Co-ordinate MOE HQ project roll outs for schools and ensuring the project implementation adheres to MOE policies, guidelines and standards.
    • Provide training and support to all staff on our ICT platforms.
    • Maintain our ICT infrastructure to support our mobile learning.
    • Server administration for school’s HR, finance and other server systems.
  4. ICT Exploration, Briefings and Trainings on ICT Practices
    • Proactive scanning of the market for technology trends and new technology tools that support teaching and learning and school administration.
    • Lead in web technology adoption and work closely with HOD/SH ICT in implementation of projects.
    • May organize and conduct ICT awareness and usage briefings/training for school staff on ICT implementation.
    • Advising teachers on the relevant security and data considerations when using ICT for T & L.
  5. Administrative matters
    • Track the usage of ICT funding and supporting the HOD ICT with adequate solutions to monitor utilisation.
    • Provide assistance in creating and managing administrative matters such as administration of various e-forms, uploading of school E-letters, provide technical assistance to parents with regards to school’s E-learn portal etc.
    • Provide technical support in up keeping the server and software for the finance environment such as implementation of e-payment environment.
  6. School Websites (Website, ICT Link, etc.) and Multimedia – Photos, Video and Audio
    • Based on instructions of HOD ICT, the ICT Manager may need to:
      • Update school websites according to timeline or when necessary.
      • Work closely with Website Coordinator in maintaining the school websites.
    • Take photos for school events/ceremony followed by editing.
    • Video filming for lessons/school events/competitions followed by editing.
    • Audio recording for exams/lessons/competitions followed by editing.
    • Maintain and update photo and video archives, with a systematic record.
  7. Other tasks:
    • Be a point of contact with MOE HQ for dissemination and coordination of ICT Project related matters for schools.
    • Raise any issues, concerns and feedback received from school on IT and ETD initiated projects so that prompt and effective actions can be taken by the organisations to address these concerns and problems early.
