Job description

Key Responsibilities

Design & Engineering:

• Design HVAC systems for offshore platforms including living quarters, control rooms, electrical rooms, workshops, and process areas.
• Develop HVAC design philosophies, system specifications, and technical documentation for offshore applications.
• Perform thermal load calculations, equipment sizing, and selection of HVAC equipment suitable for marine environments.
• Design pressurization systems, explosion protection, and gas detection integration for hazardous areas.

Technical Analysis:

• Conduct HVAC load calculations using software such as HAP, Elite, or similar simulation tools.
• Develop P&IDs for HVAC systems including aeraulic and hydraulic diagrams.
• Specify HVAC equipment lists and prepare material take-offs for procurement support.
• Analyze noise control requirements and vibration isolation for offshore machinery spaces.

System Integration:

• Coordinate HVAC design interfaces with electrical, structural, piping, and instrumentation disciplines.
• Integrate HVAC control systems with DCS/ESD systems for automated operation.
• Design emergency ventilation systems and smoke extraction for fire safety compliance.
• Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, ISO, SMACNA, SOLAS, NORSOK, and API standards.

Project Support:

• Review and approve HVAC designs and vendor drawings prepared by contractors.
• Conduct technical bid evaluation and post-order follow-up for HVAC equipment procurement.
• Provide technical support during construction, installation, and commissioning phases.
• Oversee HVAC commissioning activities and quality control inspections.

Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 8-15 years HVAC design experience with 5+ years in offshore oil & gas projects.
• Strong knowledge of offshore HVAC principles including pressurization, explosion protection, and marine environmental conditions.
• Proficiency in HVAC design software (AutoCAD, Revit, HAP, Elite) and load calculation tools.
• Experience with HVAC control systems integration and offshore installation methods.
• Knowledge of international offshore standards and marine classification requirements.
