Position Responsibilities
Position Overview

The High School Interim Semester & Community Learning & Engagement (CLE) Coordinator plays a vital role in shaping Singapore American School’s experiential and community learning culture.

This dual role connects two key areas of impact:

  • Interim Semester (0.5 FTE): leading the design, coordination, and safe implementation of SAS’s flagship experiential learning week, providing students opportunities to explore the world and themselves through immersive, hands‑on experiences.
  • Community Learning & Engagement (0.5 FTE): coordinating high‑impact service and community learning experiences that help students develop empathy, purpose, and global awareness through authentic partnerships.

Together, these responsibilities advance the SAS2027 Strategic Plan priorities of Extraordinary Care and Possibilities, ensuring that every student engages meaningfully with the world beyond the classroom.

Role‑Specific Responsibilities
1. Community Learning and Engagement (CLE) Leadership
  • Lead the High School Community Learning & Engagement (CLE) Program, aligning it with the PreK–12 CLE Framework.
  • Collaborate with Curriculum Coordinators, Division Principals, and PLC Coaches to embed CLE meaningfully into units of study and co‑curricular programs, including establishing and monitoring a vertically aligned scope and sequence for integrating CLE into the Pre‑K to G12 curriculum.
  • Co‑lead the Executive Service Council (ESC) and support student‑led clubs and projects focused on service, sustainability, and advocacy.
  • Build and sustain reciprocal partnerships with community organizations that provide authentic learning and service opportunities aligned to the curricular and co‑curricular program.
  • Coordinate with the Experiential Education team (CWW, Risk Management, Interim) to align CLE goals with experiential learning priorities.
  • Develop and facilitate professional learning and parent engagement sessions on CLE principles and best practices.
  • Guide reflection, documentation, and evidence collection through student portfolios and exhibitions.
  • Celebrate and communicate CLE achievements through storytelling campaigns, assemblies, and school events.
  • Monitor and evaluate CLE impact using feedback and data from students, faculty, and partners.
2. Interim Semester Coordination
  • Lead all aspects of the High School Interim Semester Program, including planning, communication, and delivery.
  • Develop a diverse range of local, regional, and international course offerings across global studies, service learning, and eco‑adventure strands.
  • Oversee teacher and student selection processes, ensuring equitable access and strong alignment with student safety and learning goals.
  • Coordinate logistics with internal teams (Communications, Business Office, Risk Management, IT, Health & Safety, and Student Support).
  • Liaise with external vendors, including travel agents, insurance providers, and trip partners to ensure safety, compliance, and high‑quality learning experiences.
  • Manage program finances, including budget planning, cost balancing, and transparent reporting.
  • Lead faculty training sessions to ensure consistent implementation of risk management and emergency procedures.
  • Communicate proactively with families and students to build understanding, excitement, and trust in the program.
  • Collect and analyze participation data, feedback, and reflection outcomes to inform continuous program improvement.
Position Requirements & Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in experiential education, service learning, or global education programs.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills.
  • Proven ability to lead large, complex logistical programs involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.
  • Capacity to coach teachers and inspire students through experiential and community learning.
Preferred
  • Master’s degree in Education, Global Studies, or related discipline.
  • Outdoor Education Specialization
  • At least 3 years of experience leading service learning or experiential education programs.
  • Experience managing budgets, contracts, and risk‑management protocols.
  • Familiarity with intercultural education, sustainability, and student leadership development.
Working Requirements
  • Sponsoring and/or coaching after‑school activities are part of the responsibility of the professional educator. Therefore, faculty shall be available to coach and/or sponsor an athletic team or other extracurricular activity. Each faculty member is expected to do a minimum of one Category 1 activity or sport per year.
  • Required attendance at school professional learning days
  • Chaperone and participate in evening and/or weekend school activities each year.
  • Collaborates closely with the Office of Learning, Risk Management Specialist, and other divisional coordinators.
