Job description
Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Senior Manager of Human Resources to lead our client's HR strategy and operations. This senior leadership role is pivotal in shaping the organisation’s people agenda — driving workforce planning, talent development, employee engagement, and HR compliance to support the business objectives. You will partner closely with the Regional HR Director, senior leadership, and corporate stakeholders to design and implement impactful HR initiatives. Beyond leading the HR team, you will champion employee well-being, strengthen union relations, and oversee critical functions such as compensation and benefits, performance management, and strategic HR projects.

This is a unique opportunity for an accomplished HR leader to foster a high-performance culture while aligning HR practices with the organisation’s values and long-term goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Policy & Compliance
    • Review and recommend policy changes in line with the Employment Act, Collective Agreements, and government regulations.
    • Ensure compensation, benefits administration, and HR processes comply with statutory requirements.
    • Oversee HR audit requirements and maintain governance standards.
  • Strategic HR Advisory
    • Act as a trusted advisor to the General Manager and Department Heads on organisational design, workforce planning, talent management, and employee engagement.
    • Support and participate in union relations, including negotiations and discussions.
  • Performance Management
    • Drive the annual performance review cycle, guiding leaders in setting KPIs and evaluating outcomes.
    • Ensure timely completion of reviews and alignment with organisational objectives.
  • Budgeting & HR Projects
    • Develop and monitor the HR annual budget, covering manpower planning, payroll costs, HR services, employee recognition, and departmental expenses.
    • Lead HR projects such as productivity improvement initiatives, funding/grant submissions, and cross-functional enhancements.
  • Talent Acquisition & Development
    • Oversee recruitment, compensation, and training initiatives.
    • Build HR team capability, nurturing talent and preparing high performers for future leadership roles.
  • Compensation, Benefits & Payroll
    • Administer compensation and benefits accurately and on time.
    • Manage timekeeping, attendance, and payroll processing, ensuring timely reporting to Corporate and Finance.
  • Employee Engagement & CSR
    • Champion employee engagement strategies and promote Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
Requirements & Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of HR experience, with at least 2–3 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and prior experience managing union matters is an advantage.
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel; strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Detail-oriented, structured, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional maturity, with a self-motivated and independent work ethic.
