Qualifications

Job description

Our client is looking for a hands-on and independent HR Manager to oversee the full spectrum of HR operations for their Malaysia business, covering both corporate and retail employees.

This role is based in Singapore and reports directly to the COO, with a dotted reporting line to the Group HR Manager (Singapore). The ideal candidate should have solid experience in Malaysia employment practices and be comfortable managing cross-border HR matters between Singapore and Malaysia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee end-to-end HR operations and HR projects for the Malaysia entity.

  • Advise management on HR strategies, policies, and performance management.

  • Handle end-to-end payroll, statutory submissions (EPF, SOCSO, HRD Corp), and employee relations.

  • Ensure compliance with Malaysia Employment Act and other statutory regulations.

  • Lead recruitment activities and workforce planning, particularly for retail and operations roles.

  • Maintain accurate employee records, staff insurance, and license renewals.

  • Support HR audits, reporting, and cross-border coordination with Singapore HR.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or equivalent.

  • Minimum 8 years of HR generalist experience, including at least 2 years in a managerial role.

  • Strong knowledge of Malaysia’s employment laws, HR policies, and statutory regulations.

  • Willing to travel frequently to Johor Bahru (70–90%) for business operations.

  • Hands-on experience in payroll, recruitment, and HR advisory.

  • Proactive, adaptable, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
