Role Overview

The Butler/House Manager is responsible for overseeing the smooth operation of a private household, delivering the highest standards of service, managing household staff, and ensuring all aspects of the residence function seamlessly. The ideal candidate is polished, discreet, highly organized, and service-oriented with a strong background in hospitality or private household management.

Key Responsibilities
Household management and organisation
  • Oversee daily household operations and staff (chefs, cleaners, drivers, gardeners).
  • Manage schedules, routines, budgets, and expense reporting.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and service providers.
  • Supervise meal planning, grocery needs, and dining service with attention to dietary requirements.
  • Handle mail, errands, and household requests with efficiency.
  • Oversee home safety, security systems, and emergency protocols.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in all personal and financial matters.
Property Management & Maintenance
  • Ensure home cleanliness, security, and presentation always.
  • Manage household repairs, renovations, and maintenance schedules.
  • Oversee vendors, contractors, and domestic staff (maids, gardeners, service providers).
  • Coordinate cleaning, upkeep, and ad-hoc/emergency repairs.
Staff Management
  • Supervise and guide domestic helpers to ensure quality service and compliance with household policies.
  • Manage work allocation, rosters, and attendance schedules.
  • Oversee salaries, wages, and statutory reporting.
  • Provide training, set service standards, and monitor staff performance.
Event Planning
  • Maintain home readiness for guests and ensure a welcoming environment.
  • Greet and assist visitors with professionalism and discretion.
  • Plan and coordinate family gatherings and special events, including logistics, staffing, menu planning, décor, and vendor management.
Butler Duties
  • Provide formal table service and oversee event execution.
  • Manage wine cellar, wardrobe, luxury items, and household inventories.
  • Handle travel arrangements, packing/unpacking, errands, and special requests.
  • Support event organization, including guest lists, catering, and entertainment.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and exercise discretion in all matters.
  • Respond promptly to communications and provide timely updates.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a House Manager, Butler, or similar role in private homes or luxury settings.
  • Background in cabin crew (with supervisory experience) or hotel butler service is welcome.
  • Prior experience in VIP residences is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of household protocol, etiquette, and luxury service standards.
  • High level of confidentiality, discretion, professionalism, and trustworthiness.
  • Hands‑on, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexible, reliable, and service-oriented with strong organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to stay calm under pressure.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends.
  • Valid driver’s license and passport; ability to travel when required.
