Job summary

Far East Flora Pte Ltd is seeking a proactive Horticulturist to support our garden centre operations across multiple retail outlets. You will maintain healthy plants, provide practical horticultural advice, and assist retail teams in delivering high-quality plant care and customer service.

The role involves monitoring plant health, identifying pests and diseases, and collaborating with Marketing and Purchasing on seasonal plant quality and promotions. Travel between outlets may be required.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Landscape Maintenance or Horticulture, or equivalent, with relevant experience preferred.
• Good knowledge of plants, their growing requirements and basic pest and disease management.
• Proactive and responsible, able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Good communication skills and ability to work with retail teams and customers.
• Willingness to travel between retail outlets as required.

Responsibilities

• Plant Care and Maintenance: Monitor plant health, watering, fertilising, pruning, repotting and maintenance.
• Plant Health and Pest Control: Identify issues and recommend preventive and corrective treatments.
• Plant Quality and Stock Support: Inspect incoming plants and advise on replenishment based on demand and seasonal trends.
• Display and Merchandising: Maintain attractive plant displays with accurate labels and care information.
• Staff and Customer Support: Provide plant-care guidance to staff and advise customers on growing conditions.
• Operational and Marketing Support: Collaborate with Retail, Purchasing and Marketing on plant quality and promotions.
• Continuous Improvement: Monitor losses and wastage and improve plant-care practices across outlets.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining healthy, attractive and saleable plants across our retail outlets, providing practical horticultural advice and supporting our retail teams in delivering quality plant care and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Plant Care and Maintenance: Monitor plant health and appearance, and carry out watering, fertilising, pruning, repotting and other plant maintenance activities.
• Plant Health and Pest Control: Identify plant health issues, including pests, diseases and nutrient deficiencies, and recommend appropriate preventive and corrective treatments.
• Plant Quality and Stock Support: Inspect incoming plants, monitor stock condition and availability, and recommend replenishment based on customer demand and seasonal trends.
• Display and Merchandising: Maintain attractive, healthy and well-organised plant displays, ensuring plant labels and care information are accurate.
• Staff and Customer Support: Provide plant-care guidance to retail staff and advise customers on plant selection, growing conditions and suitable gardening products.
• Operational and Marketing Support: Work with Retail, Purchasing and Marketing teams on plant quality, seasonal promotions and plant-care information.
• Continuous Improvement: Monitor plant losses and wastage, and recommend improvements to plant-care practices across outlets.

Requirements

• Diploma in Landscape Maintenance, Horticulture or a related discipline, with at least 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Good knowledge of plants, their growing requirements and basic pest and disease management.
• Proactive and responsible, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
