High Risk Manager

We are seeking an experienced and proactive High Risk Manager to oversee and manage risk-related activities in our business operations. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in the commodities or financial trading industries, with a strong focus on identifying, mitigating, and managing high‑risk exposures associated with transactions, markets, and supply chains. The role will require both strategic oversight and hands‑on implementation of risk management practices, as well as close collaboration with various teams to ensure compliance with industry regulations. Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM

  • Up to $10,000 basic + variable bonus
Key Responsibilities
1. Risk Identification & Assessment
  • Risk Monitoring: Evaluate and monitor risks related to high‑value transactions, emerging markets, suppliers, and clients to proactively identify potential vulnerabilities.
  • Due Diligence: Conduct thorough background checks and due diligence on high‑risk customers, vendors, and trade partners to assess financial stability and reputational risks.
  • Market Analysis: Analyze external factors such as market volatility, currency risks, geopolitical risks, and supply chain vulnerabilities that may impact business operations.
  • Contract Review: Review trading contracts and agreements to identify potential financial and legal exposures.
2. Risk Control & Mitigation
  • Policy Development: Design, implement, and enforce risk management policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard the organization from risk exposure.
  • Mitigation Strategies: Develop and execute risk mitigation measures, including hedging strategies, contract terms, and setting credit limits to manage financial risks.
  • Collaborative Risk Management: Work closely with operations, finance, and compliance teams to ensure risk controls are followed throughout the organization.
  • Approval and Escalation: Assess high‑risk transactions and provide recommendations for approval, rejection, or escalation based on risk assessments.
3. Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all activities comply with international trade regulations, sanctions, Anti‑Money Laundering (AML) and Counter Financing of Terrorism (CFT) requirements, and relevant industry standards.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records for audits, compliance reviews, and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Regulatory Liaison: Serve as a point of contact for regulatory bodies or external auditors, ensuring smooth communication and adherence to regulatory guidelines.
4. Monitoring & Reporting
  • Risk Monitoring: Continuously monitor risk indicators, providing timely alerts and actionable insights on potential risks and threats to the organization.
  • Risk Reports: Prepare and present periodic risk assessment reports to management and board committees, detailing potential risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Framework Improvement: Suggest improvements to existing risk management frameworks based on market trends, emerging risks, or operational changes.
5. Stakeholder Management
  • Cross‑Department Collaboration: Work closely with traders, sales teams, logistics, finance, and other internal stakeholders to foster risk awareness and ensure adherence to risk policies.
  • Training & Education: Provide training and guidance to staff on risk management policies, compliance requirements, and best practices.
  • Strategic Support: Support senior management in strategic planning by providing risk‑based insights and ensuring risk considerations are incorporated into key business decisions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in risk management within the commodities trading or financial trading industries.
  • Proven track record in dealing with high‑risk markets, complex supply chains, and regulated commodities.
  • Strong understanding of risk assessment tools and frameworks, including AML, KYC, sanctions, and trade compliance regulations.
  • Able to interpret and analyze trading contracts, financial statements, and regulatory requirements.
    Proficiency in risk management software and ERP systems.
