Healthcare Assistant Job Description
Job Summary:
Provide compassionate and comprehensive care to clients attending the Maintenance Day Care Centre or Day Rehabilitation Centre. Responsibilities include maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe environment, and assisting clients with their personal care and daily living activities to enhance their well-being and quality of life.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Client Care and Supervision: Provide attentive assistance and supervision to clients, ensuring their comfort, safety, and adherence to center standards. Greet clients at the drop-off point and safely escort them to the centre, assisting them in settling in upon arrival.
- Nutritional Support: Address clients' dietary needs by serving meals and providing feeding assistance as required, ensuring proper nutrition and hydration.
- Activity Support: Supervise and actively engage clients in a variety of activities, promoting their physical and mental stimulation.
- Therapeutic Program Assistance: Conduct group programs and activities under the guidance and supervision of therapists, contributing to clients' rehabilitation and engagement.
- Personal Care Assistance: Accompany clients to the washroom/toilet and provide assistance with personal hygiene, including diaper changes as needed, ensuring their dignity and cleanliness.
- Rest and Mobility Support: Encourage clients to rest comfortably for a nap after lunch and provide assistance with their mobility, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Meal Service and Transport Escort: Assist with serving meals to clients, ensuring their comfort and safety during meal times. Provide transport escort when needed, ensuring clients' safety and well-being during transit.
- Excursion Support: Support the supervision of clients during excursions, ensuring their well-being, safety, and active engagement in activities.
- Documentation: Document client activities, observations, and any changes in their condition regularly and accurately, maintaining comprehensive records.
- Health Monitoring and Reporting: Promptly report any clients who are unwell or experience a sudden change in status to the appropriate staff and assist with follow-up care as directed, ensuring timely intervention.
- Professional Development: Participate in in-house training programs conducted by Physical Therapists (PT) and Occupational Therapists (OT) to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Safety and Emergency Preparedness: Be thoroughly familiar with the Centre’s fire and safety policies and procedures, ensuring a safe environment for all clients.
- Hygiene Assistance: Assist clients with their elimination needs as necessary, ensuring their comfort and hygiene.
- Housekeeping: Maintain excellent housekeeping practices to ensure a clean and sanitary environment.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the centre.
