Job Purpose

The Head, Research & Partnership leads and oversees the administrative matters under the Associate Chair Research’s Office, managing the research portfolios of the school.

This role is responsible for working with University Administration on Research initiatives and on implementation of new systems/changes in research to school. This role also provides support to Chair and Associate Chair (Research), in ensuring the school alignment with University Research Drivers, providing the strategic oversight and perspectives for principal investigators, and managing the National/University level initiatives.

The role will be responsible to nurture and build the relationships with ecosystem stakeholders such as academia, industry and government agencies, as well as strengthening existing partnerships and seeking new opportunities with Principal Investigators for partnership for both education and industrial alliance.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead the operation of the Research Office within the unit.
  • Support the school management in the strategic planning and development to grow research portfolios.
  • Facilitate business setup and continuity in the school related to research grants and project matters.
  • Oversee coordination and manage relationship with key stakeholders for the management of research grants, and research agreements.
  • Oversee research manpower matters for the unit.
  • Serve as the primary contact for collation, analysis, and reporting of research data and statistics.
  • Serve as key support to school management for research‑related publicity materials.
  • Enhance and promote school’s research capabilities through coordinating seminars, workshops, courses, and engagement sessions with both internal and external parties.
  • Represent the school in various initiatives as assigned.
Requirements
  • A recognized Degree/Masters/PhD with 5 years of relevant experience in research grant administration or management within educational or research institutions.
  • Understand the research grant management and administration processes, research ecosystem and proven track record in grant management and experience in higher education sector will be added an advantage.
  • Strong leadership skills with excellent interpersonal abilities across various organizational levels and the ability to work effectively within a diverse community.
  • Demonstrate ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A self‑motivated individual with the ability and flexibility to handle complex business, interpersonal and intra‑organizational challenges.
  • Resourceful and capable of working independently under tight timelines.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Able to maintain high standards of confidentiality with sensitive information.
  • Proficient in MS Office, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new IT software and applications as needed.
