Head of Operations & Communications — It’s Raining Raincoats

This role leads the operational heartbeat and communication strategy of the organisation. It requires someone who can build structure, strengthen processes, coordinate volunteers at scale, and communicate with clarity, compassion, and purpose. You will manage day-to-day operations, design efficient workflows, oversee outreach and messaging, and ensure smooth execution across all initiatives supporting migrant workers.

Key Responsibilities
Operations Leadership
  • Oversee and optimise daily operations across all programmes, events, and outreach activities.
  • Build clear, scalable processes for volunteer engagement, donations, distributions, and partnerships.
  • Coordinate logistics, including inventory, procurement, scheduling, and on-ground execution.
  • Implement performance tracking systems and operational dashboards.
  • Ensure compliance with internal guidelines, safety protocols, and external regulatory requirements.
  • Manage cross‑functional coordination between field teams, volunteers, partner organisations, and stakeholders.
Communications Strategy
  • Develop and execute a consistent communications plan across social media, email, press, community channels, and stakeholder messaging.
  • Craft storytelling that highlights impact, strengthens trust, and builds awareness around migrant worker issues.
  • Oversee content creation: posts, videos, newsletters, campaign messages, and public statements.
  • Manage media relationships and handle press engagements.
  • Ensure all communication aligns with the organisation’s mission and values.
People & Volunteer Management
  • Lead and mentor operations and communications team members.
  • Strengthen volunteer onboarding, training, deployment, and support systems.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, empathy, and accountability.
  • Support conflict resolution, team coordination, and workload planning.
Strategic Planning
  • Work with leadership to define yearly objectives, operational priorities, and long‑term organisational development.
  • Identify gaps, propose improvements, and execute initiatives that raise efficiency and impact.
  • Analyse data, measure outcomes, and generate periodic reports for leadership and donors.
Partnerships & External Relations
  • Support relationships with NGOs, government bodies, corporate partners, and community groups.
  • Represent the organisation at meetings, events, and public engagements.
  • Strengthen partnerships that enhance programme reach and operational support.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in operations, communications, or programme management (non‑profit experience is an advantage).
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive teams and manage large volunteer groups.
