Operational Risk (Asset Management) - AD / Director
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Operational Risk professional to support the Asset Management business across Asia. This role sits within the second line of defence and partners closely with investment, operations, compliance, and senior leadership to identify, assess, and manage non-financial risks across portfolios, platforms, and jurisdictions.
Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted risk partner to Asset Management business units, providing pragmatic and commercially minded operational risk advice
- Support the design, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of the operational risk management framework across APAC
- Conduct and oversee risk and control self-assessments (RCSAs), scenario analysis, and control testing activities
- Identify, assess, and monitor key operational risks including outsourcing, third-party risk, technology risk, valuation, data, and process risks
- Review and challenge incidents, near misses, and emerging risk trends; ensure timely escalation and remediation tracking
- Contribute to regulatory engagement, audits, and internal assurance reviews where required
- Prepare high-quality risk reporting and insights for senior management, risk committees, and regional stakeholders
- Support change initiatives, new product launches, and business growth from an operational risk perspective
- Promote a strong risk culture through engagement, training, and clear communication across the business
Requirements
- Degree in Finance, Business, Law, or a related discipline; professional risk qualifications are advantageous
- 8+ years of experience in operational risk, enterprise risk, or non-financial risk roles within asset management, banking, or financial services
- Strong understanding of asset management operations, investment lifecycle risks, and fund structures
- Familiarity with regulatory expectations across APAC (e.g. MAS, ASIC, HKMA, SFC)
- Ability to balance risk discipline with commercial judgement
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including board-level reporting
