About the Role:

Brighton College (Singapore) is seeking an inspirational Head of Mathematics to join our expanding school community from August 2026. This is an exceptional opportunity to lead and shape the mathematical vision of the Senior School as Brighton College (Singapore) develops from a first-class Prep School into one of the region’s leading all-through schools, offering education from Pre-Nursery to Year 13.

What you will be doing:
  • Lead all aspects of mathematics education across the Senior School, ensuring the highest standards of teaching, learning and academic enrichment.
  • Be responsible for the teaching, progress and attainment of all pupils in Years 7 to 12 from August 2026, extending this responsibility to Year 13 as the school grows.
  • Lead on Key Stage 3 and 4 curriculum planning and delivery, including preparation for the first IGCSE Mathematics and Additional Mathematics cohort sitting examinations in June 2027.
  • Lead on Key Stage 5 curriculum planning and delivery, including preparation for the first A-level Mathematics and Further Mathematics cohort commencing with Year 12 in August 2026.
  • Oversee all aspects of assessment, tracking and reporting for academic mathematics, ensuring accurate monitoring of progress and outcomes.
  • Demonstrate the experience and expertise to teach mathematics effectively across all relevant Key Stages, including IGCSE/GCSE, A-level, and (where appropriate) Further Mathematics.
  • Act as an outstanding classroom practitioner, modelling best practice, intellectual curiosity and high expectations for pupils and colleagues alike.
  • Implement rigorous systems of departmental self-evaluation and continuous improvement, ensuring teaching and learning reflect current best practice.
  • Promote excellence, curiosity and problem-solving in all areas of the mathematics curriculum, fostering a passion for the subject across the school.
  • Develop and lead a co-curricular mathematics programme, including clubs, enrichment sessions, and academic competitions such as the UKMT, FOBISA Code-Breaking and other regional or international challenges.
  • Encourage participation in extension and Olympiad level problem-solving, providing stretch and challenge for the most able mathematicians.
  • Support and guide pupils applying to leading universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, and other world‑class institutions, particularly in mathematics‑related fields.
  • Work closely with the Heads of EAL and AEN to develop tailored pathways for pupils requiring additional support in mathematics.
  • Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Undertake any other reasonable management requests in support of the school’s mission, vision, and values.
Who we are looking for:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Maths (or any other specialisation related to Maths), with PGCE or equivalent.
  • Expert knowledge or experience of successfully delivering GCSEs/IGCSEs and A-level.
  • Proven track record of middle leadership (preferred but not essential).
  • International school experience (preferred but not essential).
  • Superb writing and speaking abilities.
  • Exemplifies the Brighton College (Singapore) values of Curiosity, Confidence and Kindness.
  • An international outlook and understanding of working in diverse environments.
