Job summary

Sanofi Manufacturing and Supply organization seeks a seasoned Head of Engineering and Projects for the Tuas Modulus Site. Lead end-to-end capital projects, drive process improvements, and ensure GMP compliance on site.

You will manage a Tier3 capex portfolio, mentor a cross-functional team of engineers, coordinate with global SMEs, and deliver safe, high-quality manufacturing solutions. The role requires a minimum of 10 years in biopharma and hands-on DeltaV experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years in Project Management, C&Q and Process Engineering in biopharma or API manufacturing.
• Strong track record delivering large-scale projects end-to-end with measurable impact.
• Hands-on leadership and ability to mentor engineers on the floor.

Responsibilities

• Manage Tier3 capex projects on site and drive site Capex committees.
• Own end-to-end project delivery from design to CQ, including procurement and handover.
• Provide feasibility input and ensure regulatory compliance (GMP/FDA).
• Lead cross-functional teams, coordinate with global SMEs, and optimize site Master Plan.
• Ensure safety, quality and process efficiency improvements across Engineering & Maintenance.

The Modulus Project is at the cornerstone of Sanofi strategy as it aims at creating a new manufacturing concept consisting of a new generation of evolutive multi-product facilities, modular, adaptable and agile, leveraging new disruptive technologies, to better address vaccine business challenges as well as Specialty Care Biologics products.

Seeking a seasoned and visionary leader with a wealth of hands‑on experience in biopharma/API process engineering and automation controls. Possess strong track record in driving project delivery from feasibility study to execution and controls.

Accountabilities

• Manage Tier3 (T3, < 5M€) capex projects on site
• Drive site Capex committees; Manage evaluation and prioritization of site project and process improvement initiatives.
• Decide on the initiation and manage funding of capital projects.
• Provide project feasibility evaluation and technical front-end studies input to support decision making process with site leadership team and central function
• Manage (process) engineering technical support for Manufacturing team
• Provide input to Site Master Plan and Strategy Planning
• Manage project execution work packages, inclusive of contract management, phasing of spending, progress tracking
• Own deliverables associated with T3 project end-to-end workstream; from design, procurement, construction and C&Q
• Advise on strategies to ensure all engineering activities comply with industry regulations and standards
• As part of CoP, work with global SME to review and upgrade standards, best Practices & Lessons Learned
• Implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency, safety, and quality within the engineering and maintenance groups
• Selection and management of external contractors and suppliers to ensure they meet the company’s HSE and Quality standards and requirements
• Staffing of Site Engineering and Project team based on site needs and strategic workforce planning from design to qualification
• Manage T1 & T2 (Global Engineering) project integration to site routine, inclusive of technical/project support post qualification and handover to site.
• Manage a team of engineering professionals (Site Tier3 Project Lead, C&Q, Process & Plant Engineers); nurturing talents, driving performance and development planning.

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

• Only candidates with strong technical acumen, a proven track record in leading equipment/process troubleshooting and commissioning efforts, and the ability to provide hands‑on guidance and mentorship to engineers should apply.
• Only candidate with prior GxP experience need to apply
• Degree or Master in Engineering (Chemical / Mechanical / Electrical / Industrial & Systems)
• Minimum 10 years of cumulative experience in Project Management, C&Q and Process Engineering in biopharmaceuticals or API manufacturing.
• Only candidate with all three areas of expertise will be considered.
• Proven track record in planning, executing, and monitoring large-scale projects
• Hands‑on experience with DeltaV automation systems, instrument connectivity, and equipment design is advantageous, with the ability to engage directly at the technical level when required.
• Demonstrated hands‑on technical capability, with a proven ability to work alongside engineers on the floor, troubleshoot complex issues directly, and lead by example rather than by setting direction alone
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills to address technical issues
• Regulatory Knowledge: Familiar with local statutory requirements, pharmaceutical industry regulations including GMP and FDA standards.
• Commitment to quality and safety; compliance in all project phases
• Strong people management skills and demonstrated ability to work with cross functional teams
