The Position

Head of English Department

Salary Range: $5,000 – $7,000 per month (commensurate with experience and qualifications)

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the English Department in upholding academic excellence and innovation.
  • Design, review and enhance engaging English lessons based on exam-prep syllabuses (MOE / IGCSE / IB).
  • Mentor and support English teachers in lesson planning, pedagogy, and classroom management.
  • Conduct internal teacher training, peer observations, and curriculum workshops.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of learning materials and assessments aligned with Academy standards.
Teaching & Academic Oversight
  • Teach selected English classes to model effective instruction and maintain classroom engagement.
  • Evaluate student performance across programmes and implement strategies for improvement.
  • Conduct lesson audits and ensure consistent teaching quality across all English levels.
  • Collaborate with the Academic Head on curriculum integration and programme innovation.
Administrative & Strategic Duties
  • Coordinate department scheduling, timetables, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor and report on departmental performance, student outcomes, and teacher progress.
  • Participate in academic meetings and support centre-wide initiatives.
  • Contribute to parent communication, workshops, and community engagement events.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in English, Education, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of teaching experience, with leadership or curriculum development experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of MOE, IGCSE, or IB English syllabuses.
  • Excellent command of English and demonstrated ability to guide teachers in pedagogy and assessment.
  • Passionate about fostering a culture of curiosity, creativity, and continuous improvement.
  • Able to commit to after-school hours and at least one or two weekend teaching days (off-in-lieu provided on weekdays).
