About the Role
Floorcare is the biggest category at Dyson and will drive most of the enterprise growth in the next 5 years.
As a pivotal leader in Dyson's Floorcare category, this role commands responsibility for the Sticks and Full-size products, core heritage categories of Dyson Floorcare.
Main responsibilities of the role are:
General:
To maximize sales and profits of their sub-business unit: Sticks and Full-size.
Product:
- To guard the existing product portfolio and to make sure that markets are selling the correct portfolio. BU helps to identify range opportunities and potential optimization on quality and product cost to maintain the ongoing success of the product lifecycle, from cradle to grave.
- Working alongside the Portfolio planning team (CEO office) to advise NPI on the future portfolio. The role is not a determining one, but an advisory one through consumer insights, spec, and key claims to lead in the marketplace.
- To develop and coordinate NPD “business cases” in collaboration with different areas of the company. Flag when a product has a deviation from brief and business case (SSP, DDU, launch date, spec, claims, …) and work together with Global revenue team to measure potential impacts (internal and external) in Markets.
- To hold meetings with key promotors from engineering, quality, marketing, supply chain to check alignment and readiness.
- To make sure they receive and act upon all Quality reports on their portfolio. To drive rapid corrective action.
- To be the spokesperson for the sub‑categories within Dyson.
Marketing:
- Work in collaboration with FC BU Campaigns team (dotted line) to create best‑in‑class Campaigns, infused with market and consumer insights, and relevant to markets.
- Strategize Dyson claims in the context of competitors and to wage campaigns so that we win. The claims must have most appeal to consumers as well as outdo competitors on claims.
- To work with the legal competitor team to maximize the strength of Dyson claims.
- To be the spokesperson for the category at product launches and other events.
Sales/financials:
- Monitor sales, come up with ideas to manage gaps to targets.
- Produce NPD launch reports, in collaboration with Global revenue team.
- Contribute to budget reviews: challenge, push markets and find solutions together to deliver targets.
- Make sure than any market intelligence or Reports, from every market, is fed to all other markets. Share intelligence and feedback globally.
Annual ranging and on‑going range management:
- Establishing the Global range principles, incorporating Direct channel and RDD requirements – ensuring these deliver against overall strategy for the category.
- Supporting RDD on annual targets such as reduction of overall SKU count, EOL direction and ad‑hoc SKU management.
- Managing the BU Commercial inputs to the monthly Product Delivery Meeting.
- Creating clear range navigation – reviewing impacts of products within the portfolio and the customer journey, including naming architecture, colours, graphics and packaging and kit configuration.
Floorcare Sticks and FS leadership and team management:
- Be able to deputise for the Sr FC BU Director as and when required.
- Contributing and inputting into key reports and meetings: board report, monthly performance review, PDM, PLM.
- Managing a team of Commercial managers.
- Building and coaching a high performing team. Proving them with clear objectives and facilitating their development through coaching and regular feedback.
- Engage key stakeholders behind the Sticks and Full-size category vision and performance.

About You
- Over 10 years of successful Commercial management, driving brand/category growth through consumer‑focused strategies with global market and modern media expertise
- Proven experience working within a Business Unit ideally within home, floorcare or similar
- Evidence of thriving in a fast‑paced environment, with a passion for technology
- Experience of confidently leading and inspiring teams to review, plan, create and deliver, internationally and across multiple functions
- Experience of product or brand management and be highly adapt at both commercial and marketing communications, with a strong traditional, social, and digital media channel knowledge
- Able to prioritise deliverables across the category and across channels to meet business critical deadlines, identifying gaps and opportunities, understanding threats and trends, ensuring that markets and wider teams are cascaded information in a consistent and effective manner
- Able to set targets and objectives for initiatives with clear measurements and reporting, sharing best practice between channels and markets, using commercial acumen to prioritise and achieve / deliver beyond targets
- Able to galvanise the wider business to support and participate with change initiatives, driving a high impact through influencing and persuading others to support your direction, setting the bar with the team to balance aspiration with realistic deliverables, allocating resource where it can make the most impact.
