Job summary

A1 is seeking a Technical Lead, Applications to own the core architecture connecting AI systems to real-world user experiences. You will design, reliability and evolve backend services, APIs, and client integrations across mobile and desktop.

This hands-on leadership role asks you to stay close to code, make critical architectural decisions, and ensure the system remains fast, reliable, and coherent as it scales, while guiding a small senior team.

Qualifications

• Experience leading application or product engineering for complex systems.
• Hands-on backend development and production shipping.
• Experience delivering AI-powered products and model integration trade-offs.
• Strong system design across services, APIs, data flows.
• Ability to make high-impact technical decisions under ambiguity.
• Bias toward shipping, iteration, and learning from real-world usage.
• Move fast without breaking fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Own the application engineering strategy across backend, mobile, and desktop.
• Lead and grow a senior applications team.
• Ensure production-grade reliability with observability, monitoring, retries, fallbacks.
• Set architectural direction for AI-powered product workflows and APIs.
• Ensure AI capabilities are integrated with clear abstractions and graceful failure.
• Partner with ML leadership to translate model capability into features.
• Make high-impact decisions on latency, cost, reliability, and user experience.
• Establish execution culture through code and design reviews.
• Ensure production readiness and cost controls.
• Balance speed with long-term quality.
