Job description
Responsibilities
  • Experience in commercial contracts and financing documents
  • Develop and maintain standard contract templates to support the business operations of the company
  • Review and negotiate contractual clauses
  • Review and comment on financing documents and accordingly liaise with Lenders’ Counsel
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with project financing covenants
  • Provide legal opinions to senior management on the impact of key clauses in the contracts
  • Keep abreast of the legal framework in Singapore, particularly legal developments that affect the energy industry in Singapore, and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
  • Ensure the implementation of a robust contract management system
  • Participate in settlement discussions during the dispute resolution process with vendors
  • Assist the Board in legal issues and advise on governance matters
  • Provide legal advice and support on the full lifecycle of company projects
  • Review and advise on project concepts, business models and risk allocation to ensure legal soundness and alignment with company policies.
  • Identify legal issues and provide pragmatic solutions that support project timelines and objectives.
  • Work closely with various departments on legal matters.
  • Rendering of advice on compliance with statutory law, government directions and legal aspects of consultation papers.
  • Liaise with external law firms where necessary
Requirements
  • Preferably Degree in law with minimum 10 to 15 years of working experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in competitive business environment especially on projects, commercial, regulatory and financing document.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with a commercial approach to handle legal issues.
  • Meticulous and analytical mind with strong initiative as well as the ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize work with minimum supervision to meet tight deadlines.
  • Action oriented and innovative and must be able to translate broad goals into achievable steps.
  • Able to anticipate and solve problems and take advantage of opportunities
  • A self-starter and team player.
  • Able to manage continuity, change and transition and address the impact of attitude and action.
  • Able to consistently display integrity, model behavior, develops people and build teams and be able to deal effectively with demanding situations and designs and implements interventions.
