Job description

You will collaborate with a team and supervise a group of accountants, overseeing the company's end-to-end finance and accounting operations. Additionally, you will serve as the business partner to the Head of Business Units in advising financial impacts and supporting quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting.

(I) Corporate Level
  • Overseeing and reviewing the company accounts.
  • Review payment vouchers for accuracy and completeness.
  • Review corporate tax filings and withholding tax and coordinate with tax agent/IRAS on relevant tax matters.
  • Review quarterly GST filing and reconciliations.
  • Review monthly management report as well as cost centre reporting.
  • Liaise and coordinate with bankers on banking matters, such as loans and treasury functions.
  • Review and monitor monthly working capital management.
  • Review quarterly forecasts and annual budgets for the corporate office
  • Review quarterly mark-to-market summary for hedge instrument.
  • Review the variance analysis prepared by the accountant.
  • Review internal processes and controls and provide recommendations for efficiencies and effectiveness.
  • And any other ad-hoc projects/tasks as assigned.
(II) Group Level
  • Review monthly and quarterly group consolidation using IBM Consolidation Controller system.
  • Review monthly management reports.
  • Lead in preparing the financial quarterly forecast and annual budget deck for Management and Board reporting.
  • Lead in financial year-end closing for the Group,

i. Issue timeline and Group instructions for the year-end audit.

ii. Preparation of accounting policies for the year-end audit.

iii. Issue CEO and CFO representation letter for the year-end audit.

iv. Update the account structures in the IBM Consolidation Controller system

v. Perform impairment testing of subsidiaries.

vi. Responsible for updating of draft financial statements

vii. Responsible for compiling and completing information into the Temasek consolidation system.

viii. Main contact for both external and internal auditors.

ix. Compile information for internal auditors for the Group Internal Audit Plan.

  • Review annual XBRL filing to ACRA.
  • Lead in coordinating and strategising the annual group insurance renewal with insurance brokers.
  • Act as the key negotiator with external auditors on annual audit fee compilation.
  • Rollout group initiatives to the different business units for implementation in line with articulated policies;
  • Spearhead new initiatives from conceptualisation to project management till completion within the deadlines;
  • Functions as the central treasury head to strategize and formulate action plans to address risks to an acceptable level;
  • Central point of contact for requisite reporting to the shareholder;
  • Supports the CFO in preparing the audit & risk presentation decks that include,

i. Compile internal audit reports.

ii. Liaise and update the Audit Plan results.

iii. Compile the risk register summary.

iv. Compile the insurance summary, etc..

Requirements:
  • Degree qualified in Accountancy from a reputable university and a qualified Chartered Accountant of Singapore.
  • Min. 3 years of prior Big 4 background.
  • At least 5 years of work experience in the commercial sector, managing Controlling / FP&A or full-spectrum finance activities, including treasury, with proven managerial experience.
  • Proficient in Singapore Financial Reporting (International) standards.
  • Knowledge of other generally accepted accounting principles (GAAPs), such as German GAAP and IFRS, would be an added advantage.
  • Extensive experience in group financial consolidation across regional or global entities with complex company structures, including equity accounting for joint ventures in foreign jurisdictions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills to effectively write reports and present financial results and performance to management.
  • Meticulous, with excellent organisational and time-management abilities to navigate tight reporting timelines.
  • Proficient in financial software and tools.
  • Ability to lead a team and collaborate effectively.
  • Good interpersonal / influencing skills to navigate the senior management of the different business units.
