The Group Business Controller serves as a strategic partner to business leadership, providing financial stewardship, commercial insights, and operational guidance to drive sustainable growth, profitability, and value creation.
This role is responsible for leading business performance management, financial planning and analysis, investment evaluation, and governance across assigned business units. The incumbent will collaborate closely with commercial, operations, supply chain, and finance teams to identify opportunities, manage risks, and support strategic decision-making.
The position offers substantial exposure to senior management and is intended as a talent pipeline for future business leadership positions with broader P&L responsibilities.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide strategic financial leadership and technical expertise to support sound business decisions and drive sustainable growth.
- Partner with business leaders to enhance operational and financial performance, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and lead continuous improvement initiatives across business operations.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, management reviews, and performance monitoring to support effective decision-making.
- Evaluate and monitor capital expenditure (CAPEX) investments, ensuring optimal returns and alignment with strategic priorities.
- Coordinate long-term business planning, resource allocation, and strategic initiatives for the Business Unit.
- Strengthen organizational financial management capabilities through the development of systems, processes, and talent.
- Lead and oversee all financial management, business control, governance, and reporting functions.
- Analyze, consolidate, and present business and financial performance reports, projections, and strategic insights to Management and relevant stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain short-term and long-term financial forecasts to support business planning and growth objectives.
- Provide financial analysis and support for special projects, business cases, and investment decisions as required.
- Lead, coach, and develop high-performing finance and business control teams.
Qualification and Requirements:
- Minimum 20 years' strategic financial management experience gained from a corporate/MNC environment with a significant manufacturing asset/s base.
- Proven strong managerial and leadership qualities.
- Business Partnering skills and a good team player.
- Commercially-oriented with high energy, a ‘can-do’ attitude and hands-on.
- Operationally in tune with the business with a keen eye for analysis and details
- Possess business acumen and strong commercial sense.
- Driven, sharp, results orientated with strong understanding of business operations and key drivers.
- Experience in leading teams and also being hands on with expected work.
- Ability to strike a good balance between cost control versus value adding
- Strong communication and presentation skills (oral and written)
- CPA/Chartered Accountant would be preferred. MBA would be advantage.
