Job summary

The Alibaba-NTU Global e-Sustainability CorpLab (ANGEL) at NTU Singapore seeks a Research Scientist to advance Green AI and sustainable AI innovations. The role focuses on efficient, scalable AI models, collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, and translating research into real-world sustainability solutions.

You will work on cutting-edge research for foundation models, publish in top venues, and mentor junior researchers while contributing to strategic initiatives within ANGEL.

Qualifications

• PhD in AI, CS, ML, NLP, IR, data science or closely related field.
• Strong publication record in reputable venues.
• Experience with LLMs, Green AI and efficient ML.
• Experience with distributed AI systems and scalable model serving.
• Proficiency in Python and modern AI frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research in Green AI to improve efficiency and scalability of large AI models.
• Design algorithms for training, inference, retrieval and deployment of LLMs and multimodal models.
• Develop AI technologies for sustainability applications.
• Publish findings in top AI conferences and journals.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to create innovative Green AI solutions.
• Mentor junior researchers and contribute to proposal development.

You will work closely with interdisciplinary researchers and engineers to develop novel AI algorithms, publish in top-tier venues, and translate research innovations into real-world sustainability solutions.

Job Description

• Conduct research in Green AI, with a focus on improving the efficiency, scalability, and sustainability of large AI models.
• Design and develop novel algorithms for efficient training, inference, retrieval, and deployment of large language models (LLMs) and multimodal foundation models.
• Develop AI technologies that contribute to sustainability applications.
• Publish research findings in leading AI conferences and journals
• Collaborate with internal and external research partners to deliver innovative Green AI solutions.
• Mentor junior researchers and contribute to research proposal development and strategic initiatives.
  
  

Job Requirements

• Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Information Retrieval, Data Science, or a closely related discipline.
• Strong research background in Large Language Models (LLMs), Green AI and efficient machine learning, LLM-based Agents, Distributed AI systems and scalable model serving, etc
• Strong publication records in reputable journals/conferences
• Strong programming skills in Python and modern AI frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, Hugging Face).
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
