Overview
This role will support a MNC bank's advocacy and political engagement activities in Asia. The successful candidate will keep abreast of political, legislative, and regulatory developments in the key policy areas that the company follows and will assist in the preparation of analysis to the company’s Asia businesses, corporate functions and leadership.
The Government Affairs (GGA) team combines the strength of professionals with public policy experience in the private, public and government sectors with demonstrated experience in cross-sector issues management. GGA's mission is to advocate for responsible policymaking at the global, regional and country levels, and to protect the company's interests with government officials. This is accomplished, in part, by robust political engagement and collaboration with the company’s partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of weekly political analysis of developments in the Asia region for the mid-week summary
- Preparation of briefing on countries and issues for the senior executive
- Preparation of input into industry association papers
- Preparation of client presentations
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree, potentially Masters degree, in a relevant area (e.g., political science, international relations, government, economics, commerce, law or finance).
- Fresh grad or at least 4 years of experience working in government, industry associations, regional or global organizations, multilaterals or NGOs on policy issues.
- Experience managing projects and issues.
Knowledge/Experience
- Knowledge of financial services and related policy issues that will impact the company and its clients desirable.
- Knowledge of bilateral and regional political and trade issues across Asia including work of ASEAN and APEC.

- Ability to understand and assess the likely implications of political, policy and regulatory matters on company's business.
- Advanced research skills to find, analyze and present information from a variety of credible sources, to provide timely, high-quality internal and external briefings.
- Strategic thinking combined with accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to achieve results.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English as the main working language – additional language skills an advantage.
- Ability to navigate the political, legislative and regulatory environment in Asia.
